Flurry Heart was one of the first alicorn births in Equestrian history. Since the other four princess had to accend to earn their horns/wings, a pony born with both was very surprising. Of course, with instant godhood comes immense power, and most unicorn foals are troublesome when it comes to magic, let alone an alicorn baby. So, Flurry’s magic was de-powered for a couple years, at least until she was old enough to take lessons on controlling it. She (and her sister Rainbow) were taught in the magic arts by Sunburst, the Crystal Empire’s resident wizard.
 
Her magic manifests as control over snow, ice, and anything cold. This can also be affected by her mood - if she’s angry or otherwise upset the temperature around her can visibly drop. She tries her best to reign it in, though, as she often works by her mothers side, learning the ropes of being a leader and diplomat so that she may one day take her mother’s place on the throne. While it leaves her very busy and stressed, she wouldn’t trade it for anything. She loves her family and her people.
 
Flurry loves her mother and father very much, but is probably more of a mother’s girl since the two of them spend so much time together. She and her younger sister Skyla sometimes butt heads over tiny stuff as most siblings do, but at the end of the day they still care deeply for each other. Rainbow Quartz is Flurry’s baby sister, and the two of them bond a lot over makeup and fashion and whatnot.
 
The only non-family member Flurry has started a close friendship with is Gossamer, the son of Thorax. Due to his specialty in love magic, he often has magic lessons with Cadence or stays close by. His advice was one of the reasons Flurry Heart was able to finally confess her feelings to Pumpkin Cake and start dating her.
