I’m not really caring about what unicorns can or can’t do. I used Trixie as an example for the weather thing because everyone keeps saying how not-powerful she is.

It appears you don’t see how flawed your logic is. Just look at the very first thing you just said: “Unicorns can control the weather as well”. And then you use just Trixie as an example. Basically you are saying all unicorns can do something because you have seen one unicorn do something. That’s exactly the same logic these earth pony defenders use. They saw Big Mac pulling a house and think that all earth ponies are strong as fuck. Of course there are also the cases when Applejack stopped a full cart of ponies on a steep hill and kicked that bell thingy of that strenght measuring thing (in Fall weather friends) to the skies and those stallions pulling the train in one episode but other than that, there are no solid proof of earth pony strenght.

So no. Unicorns can’t control the weather. We haven’t see any proof of that.  
I see your point when it comes to earth ponies but the same applies to unicorns as well. “ It’s a pet peeve because it just keeps popping up, despite the lack of evidence”. Exactly. There is no evidence that all unicorns can control weather.
 
Anyways I really think this is not really the best place to even discuss this. I know some people like to overanalyze everything and have their own opinions and headcanons but in the end the show creators have made all pony races equal despite what the fans might think. It would be nice if we could all just enjoy the show as it is but I think that is pretty much impossible if one wants to interact with the rest of the fandom.

Unicorns can control the weather as well (Trixie without any power-ups, who I’m assuming is in a nebulous area between “normal” and “Twilight levels”).
 
Anyways, my only real point is that there’s nothing in the show that says earth ponies are stronger than the other races. Hell, even the largest stallions on the show aren’t earth ponies (Blueblood and the random gala unicorns, and Snowflake, all larger than Big Mac or the locomotive pullers).

Yeah earth pony strengh is basically just fanon. Of course there are those instancies when Bic Mac pulls a house or Sweetie Belle pulls a full wagon but like you said, both of them we have just seen once.
 
It’s also compeltely fanon that all unicorns can do advanced magic like Twilight. When have we seen some normal unicorn do anything impressive magic wise? Never. We have seen unicron even struggling to open a jar with her magic.
 
The truth is peagsi are the true master race if we don’t count alicorns. They can fly and control the weather and Dash has shown that they are not weak either. It’s said that earth ponies have strong connection to the nature but then we have Fluttershy to show that it’s possible for pegasi too.

Apparently unicorn foals are strong.
 
As for military tactics, that’s all fantastical fanon and headcanon.
 
The show’s only ever shown Applejack and Big Macintosh ever doing anything phsysically impressive. Applejack is a bona fide super hero and Big Mac was under the influence of narcotics; outside him pulling a house that one time, he’s barely able to lift a simple cake or pull a plow.
 
The show’s only ever hinted at earth ponies being good at growing crops. The whole stronger/tougher thing is simple baseless fanon, made to try to give earth ponies a better balance against the other two races.

BP, they were foals. Foals aren’t strong.  
Second, pegasi are the warriors because of their agility. Unicorn can de-focus, leaving them vulnerable, and by thye look of Equestrian Military, they prefer hit ’n run tactics. Which Pegasi are perfect for this.

A show pony fit enough to work at a rock farm and pull her wagon/home/stage across Equestria’s dirt roads.
 
Earth ponies being stronger than the other races is a myth. All the royal guards are pegasi or unicorns, the pony warrior race are pegasi, and we all saw Sweetie Belle pulling that cart, uphill, as well as Snips and Snails pulling Trixie wheeless charriot and bed-thing.

Yeah you kinda answered your own question there already. (earth pony-stronger-than unicorn) Pretty much what CottonTales said. Without that alicorn amulet Trixie is pretty much just a show pony. Showy effects like lights, smoke and fireworks and so on.

Mutated zombie snowmen did Trixie get that idea from Kim Possible?
