I am just on a role with these drawings lol. Hey it happens. We continue through our tour of the USA with the islands of Hawaii. Right away I wanted these ponies to represent the native culture of Hawaii as well as the nature of it. Coming up with the names was the hardest part honestly, especially with the female.

Kilauea- As you can guess from the name, it’s a reference to the famous volcano there. The name itself means “much spreading” since the large island of this chain is still growing. Hawaii itself was created by erupting volcanoes, so I wanted to include that in Kilauea’s design. Also the tattooing is an old custom of the natives so I looked up some basic designs. I really hope I did pay homage to the Hawaiian culture this way because I know tattooing is considered sacred over there. This is probably one of my favorite stallion designs.

Pua Aloalo- The name is Hawaiian for Yellow Hibiscus, which happens to be the state flower. Flowers are used as a means to greet people too and being a flower lover myself I definitely wanted to use that to my advantage. I wanted the pony’s mane to look like flower petals too since they curl out from the center.

Overall I am very pleased with how these ponies turned out, even though their color schemes are similar. I hope those from or native to Hawaii like this picture though. Comments are appreciated.
