This is…disconcerting, since I live in NZ, thus have no legal means to view episodes, ergo no means to keep up with the culture (so to speak)

They’re called torrents people.
 
Now removal of parodies and such is a different matter, and probably ultimately highly counterproductive given the community dynamics that spawned the shows success.

Anything they do won’t work in the long term. The Internet routes around censorship and nothing travels around the Internet faster than outrage.

Worst case scenario is I switch to torrents. No, I do not get the hub and yes, I did buy the dvds.

Essentially if people edit out the intro for every episode that would be one way to circumvent Content ID. Because essentially that is what is triggering it. Though fanmade videos such as FiW should be as they can just dispute the claims.

As someone living in Europe, this concerns me greatly.
 
Still - if I can stream shows like Dexter, Breaking Bad and Doctor Who for free, I’m sure I’ll be able to watch ponies even in case of a complete YouTube ban. It would suck big time, but it wouldn’t stop me from getting my fix of pone.

Also, complaining that Friendship is Witchcraft got taken down is like complaining Rob Liefeld stopped drawing.

I’m actually wondering. Do the chinese actually download the episodes and parodies, and put them on their TV? How else would they want to get them there? They could aswell buy the i-tunes version and steal it :P

These happened before, honestly. I wouldn’t go saying that I will never be able to watch it again, because I can’t buy the episodes, but this looks more serious than last time.

The episodes get uploaded and taken down constantly. It’s rare to see an episode reaching over 100k views.
 
If every episode could stay right from the beginning they would have multiple millions of views. The same thing is just gonna happen with these videos.

In general when you submit a dispute, the video becomes available to the general public again until the claim is cleared up (assumed by the ContentID holder). If the information from Hasbro Legal is correct, and you’re not actually hosting a full episode, the flag should be removed from your video and more or less given the green light to remain. We would assume your video would be added to a database of “green lighted” videos, thus not being flagged again in the future.”

The only legal way of me watching it is on Netflix, but I’d have to wait until the end of the season for that.

I’m not really happy about takedown of parodies or commentary videos, but it should be understandable that full episodes would sooner or later get deleted, we should be grateful that Hasbro even allowed to have them on Youtube for so long in the first place. And if it will help them make more profit from MLP:FiM (which is in our best interest), I fully support it. Just my two bits.
