Of course, Mercury takes a little bit of explaining. While he can assume a form on his own, he prefers to control others. He simply “sleeps” in his crown until someone naive enough to put him on comes along.
 
Then everything goes all “Patient Zero”.
 
As you can see, he can spread himself via physical contamination. I used Pinkie Pie as an example because:
 
A) she can say something like “There’s a pony made of green gelatin living in my head that tells me the funniest things!” and have it still be 100% organic to the character
 
B) pink and green compliment each other nicely
