Yeah, agreed.
another thing worth mentioning just because something is cliched doesn’t mean it automatically bad it’s kind of like saying something original can’t suck
Edited
Yeah, but she forget instead, which is a nice twist, and kinda keeps the viewer from guessing that.
Also, makes sense because she’s so focused on helping others have a good birthday, that she puts others over herself, and doesn’t think of herself as much. Which is actually kinda cute.
I think the truly cliche version of the episode would have been pinkie pie thinking that they forgot her birthday
The only criticism I’d give that episode is the plot & twist are pretty cliché, (especially with cartoons) but admittedly depressed/crazed Pinkie is why most fans like myself still found it amusing. It was also the first time we see a different side to Pinkie.
Still, MLP manages to make even the more cliché episode plots entertaining, or have new twists on them, I feel.

The party for one one really sticks out to me as well so throwing your friend a surprise party and trying to not ruin the surprise is being an asshole?
I think your interpretations kinda trivialize, and twist these episodes’ story, characters, and morals alot, especially to make the Mane 6 out to be the bad guys most of the time, no offense.
Also, Trixie wasn’t really sympathetic at all in “Boast Busters,” and I fail to see how they were “cruel and heartless” in “Swarm.” You write off any character flaw, or mistake a character makes as “being an asshole,” which is exaggerating.
No offense, but you take alot of things in the show too seriously.
Dude, those are just your opinions. And they’re completely unrelated to the image.
I’m merely stating how bad the writing was in these episodes.
I don’t even like half of those episodes, but your criticisms are still not objective.
I never said I hated the show. I think a majority of the seasons suck (seasons 4, 5, and 7 are the only seasons that can in any way be classified as at least being decent) due to each only having a few episodes that are actually good, or at the very least decent.
“Bridle Gossip” — This episode was bad due to the Mane Six being assholes in wrongly assuming that Zecora was the one who jinxed them.
“Boast Busters” — This episode was bad due to Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash acting like assholes and because it introduced an unlikable antagonist who we’re expected to feel sympathetic for in the end.
“The Ticket Master” — Once ahaib, the Mane Six act like a bunch of assholes, even getting into a heated argument, over a stupid ticket and constantly pester and annoy their friend over it.
“Green Isn’t Your Color” — This showcases Rarity at her worst and drags out a plot that could’ve been solved in less than two minutes.
“Look Before You Sleep” — Not only was this episode extremely boring, but it shows Applejack and Rarity acting like a couple of five year olds and Twilight is portrayed as being at her dumbest here.
“Party of One” — Yet again the Mane Six act like a bunch of assholes (are you noticing a pattern here yet?) to Pinkie Pie, making her feel unappreciated and unwanted. The Mane Six show little to no regard for Pinkie’s feelings.
“Over a Barrel” — A cliche overused story that we’ve heard a million times before stretched out for twernty-two minutes when we already know the outcome. The only difference here is that the feud is between ponies and buffalos.
“Swarm of the Century” — The plot for this episode was incredibly stupid. Yet again we have another plot that can be solved in two minutes but is needlessly stretched out to twernty-two minutes due to all of the parties involved being stupid and unhelpful by not using their brains. This episode is bad also due to its cruel, heartless ending.
“Feeling Pinkie Keen” — An episode that has a very bad message at its center. It doesn’t help that Twilight is unlikable in this episode.
“Fall Weather Friends” — Like “Look Before You Sleep”, this is an episode involving Rainbow Dashb and Applejack acting like a couple of toddlers over an event that isn’t meant to be a competition but then actibg liks it is. It doesn’t help that the Iron Pony Competition was rife with stupidity.
“Dragonshy” — The Mane Six continuously pester and bother a dragon who is doing nothing more than sleeping but is unknowingly covering Equestria in smoke. Rather than have Celestia do it, they do it themselves, leaving Spike out od the adventure when he could’ve been very uaeful here. After Fluttershy tells the dragon off, the Mane Six congratulate her for forcing a dragon to leave his home, then they return to Ponyville, not even bothering to help said dragon find a new home or move his belongings. Agaib, the Mane Six are portrayed as assholes here.
“Griffon the Brush-Off” — Rather than give Gilda snd Dash their space, Pinkie constantly bothers them. Then, when Gilda understandably tells Pinkie to leave them alone, Pinkie refuses and continues to bother them, then proceeds to play the victim card. Shortly afterwards, Gilda does a complete 180 in terms of personality and starts bullying Fluttershy and Pinkie for little to no reason, which quickly got on my nerves. This episode also contains a bad moral which directly spits in the face of the moral of “The Return of Harmony”, another episode I hated.
No. Your opinions aren’t facts just because you believe strongly in them. You are not the Arbiter of objective quality, especially since you don’t even like the show.
It is not an opinion. It is a fact that these episodes are badly written and the characters are portrayed poorly in them. I’d be more than happy to go into detail as to how and why that is. If you like these episodes, though I don’t know why you would, that’s fine. Personally, I hate them.
I’m not going to agree with you. Your opinions are not facts. If you are only here to bash the show, you don’t belong here. This website is for fans of the show.

Rewatch those episodes and you’ll see what I mean when I say that they’re badly written and the characters are portrayed poorly in them.
Your opinions are not facts, and those people are not bronies. If you’re not a fan of the show, you don’t belong on a site for fans of the show.
That’s according to you, though. Again, I’ve met several people who hate the show yet love the fandom.
@Beau Skunky
Personally, I hated these episodes due to them being badly written and the bad characterization of the characters.
I think most fans would disagree those were “bad” episodes, (I like ‘em personally) especially the ones whom are Season 1/2-purists.
No offense, but I don’t understand fans that hate 98% of the show, you’re kinda in the minority here with that mindset. Even those whom only like the first two seasons, or tell me they no longer watch the show still enjoy quite a few of those seasons’ episodes.
And for that matter, in terms of fans who like, or only like fandom stuff, not everything the fandom makes is great either, of course.
Bronies are fans of the show by definition.
@Beau Skunky
No one ever said you actually had to like the sbow to be a brony. I know plenty of people who hate the show, but love the fandom and vice versa. Every season of the show has had its share of bad episodes. There’s only a handful of episodes from this show that I actually like. A majority of this show’s episodes are just plain bad. And if you think the show is so great, how do you feel about the twist of the finale being that Discord was Grogar all along?
@Beau Skunky
Season one had some of the worst episodes of the show, such as but not limited to “Bridle Gossip”, “Boast Busters”, “The Ticket Master”, “Green Isn’t Your Color”, “Look Before You Sleep”, “Party of One”, “Over a Barrel”, “Swarm of the Century”, “Feeling Pinkie Keen”, “Fall Weather Friends”, “Dragonshy”, and “Griffon the Brush-Off.”

Do you even like this show?
Speaking as a “Season 1-er,” gatta say, I highly disagree, I still see those traits of her in other seasons too. No offense, but you’re either naive, or full of yourself if you think every fan who’s been around sense S1 all have the same opinions as you, because frankly we don’t all hive-mind that.
@Smitty1991
Ok, if you hate the show, even the first two seasons, why are you here? Why are you discussing the show? (Especially the later seasons you supposedly hate.) Why do you have a DJ PON3 avatar?
Edited
LOL I’ve never in my life heard anyone say they want that. That kind of crap is why I hated the first two seasons of this show.
Then why exactly are you here? Trolling? Attention whoring?
I swear people love spouting things like “characterization” and other terms that sound smart but what they want is just boring episodes that just asskiss the Mane 6 non stop.
