I’ve seen, heard, and been apart of fandoms that have fallen HARDER. MLP is still pretty up there for all it’s faults. Even if you don’t agree, you can’t deny this has been the most explosive in terms of fanmade content.

Name another fandom with more animations, songs, and artwork.

Imagine thinking this fandom is the best. Have you even been around it the past few years when it fell hard?

FIM created the best fandom. Not the most impressive thing when most fandoms are god awful. But for a show that was simple and safe and didn’t try to do anything more than spread a few obvious lessons on friendship, it is surprising that it created something so amazing. More impressive and daring shows have completely failed to create communities half as good as we have here. And here we are still going strong even with no official content supporting us.

Many of the Sonic The Hedgehog games, starting with Sonic 2, have friendship as a key to solve their problems. Some are more obvious than others.
 
If anything, what you’re writing are just a bunch of coincidences.

Take Sonic Forces, although not great, was the best game sonic had in a while, and considering Sonic was practically playing Twilight Sparkle in that game making me wonder if the writers were actually taking notes from MLP
 
And then of course you have Sonic Boom, which proved to be extremely popular despite people saying it was crap just because of its whole premise… which reminds me of ANOTHER soft reboot that “seemed” destined to fail
 
Hint: Equestria Girls
 
 
And then you have IDW comics: which has many YouTube reviewers are saying is already saying is better than Archie Sonic, not mention the whole “friendship” concept taken from Sonic Forces has not been tripled.
 
IDW… I wonder what other comics they write…
 

 
Personally, I believe Sonic writers have been influenced by the “unlikely” success of MLP for the last 7 years. (This WAS the case for the Mario franchise for quite a while) Will it last? Who knows, Sonic could end up by in the toilet by next year. But if it’s all uphill for the Sonic franchise from here, I’m gonna give a little partial credit to us for giving Sonic an ideological rope to climb out the sh%thole he’s been stuck in this past decade.
 
Besides it our own fanbase that made me realize not to judge the Sonic community by a few bad eggs.

Fans of Rick and Morty sent death threats because they didn’t like Season 3. Steven Universe Fans sent death threats when someone drew Rose Quartz thin. This is nothing new. this is O.D.E: The Online Disinhibition Effect. it’s the mental disorder that people have that has them believe they can say and do what they want online and not get any consequence for their actions, because in their belief, to be blunt: “It’s online, therefore it doesn’t count”
 
What should happen is these people should be tracked down IRL and put in jail for a few years. Then we’ll see how likely they are to utter death threats online. People on the internet as a collective whole are idiots, and will always be idiots
