I think some were joking about the “Scootaloo lives in the orphanage” thing, but I agree.
I remember that, was never a fan of that headcanon.
Honestly the Scootaloo’s dead parents headcanon bothered me.
Because it was only based on the fact that we just didn’t seem them and unlike Applejack’s we didn’t see many scenes we would make sense for them to be there.
I remember some people saying that the her (clearly not big enough) house was the ponyville orphanage
Indeed… “The Perfect Pear” especially cements this.
I still remember when fans though Sweetie Belle lived with Rarity, and we had no clue about Scootaloo’s family. Some fans still like to make up their own fanons about that, but if that’s fun for them, that’s ok, but they have to accept the show is more fleshed out now.
Also the way other ponies talked about them crusaders of the lost Mark and the perfect pair did not make it sound like people just somewhere else
Yeah, I agree. The show finally acknowledged it in subtle ways though, like the two shooting stars Applejack watches, and other things. The subtle way doesn’t hurt though.

Honestly if the show made it that parents would just somewhere else the entire time that would just be lazy writing and would have made them look like terrible people who don’t care about the family.(unless they were stuck somewhere)
If you was like the shows been hinting at them being dead ever since season 3
You could blame the fact they couldn’t fit them into the episode.
People said the same thing about Applejack’s parents. (So the show has a habit of barely skating by the word “death.”)
I suppose they could be divorced, I guess, but neither of those parents were seen, mentioned, or hinted at, around Starlight’s Dad, and Sunburst’s Mom.
I mean there would have been something to imply that they were dead.
That’s odd, some fans jump to conclusions.

I don’t know about that, they have been hinted at being dead if that was the case.
It’s possible she’s dead. Same for Sunburst’s Dad.
Hence why some fans oddly ’ship their parents.

Ohhhh, but I’m sure if it did focus on BG characters instead, fans would just complain that it’s “pandering,” or “fanfiction,” or complain it’s not focusing on the Mane 6. It’s lose-lose either way.

And yeah, I see fans complain if the Mane 6 get too much focus, or ones whom complain if any other character/s get any focus.
I actually saw someone saying that they are focusing on the mane six too much. that person was just upset that their favourite background character wasn’t getting an episode.
I also remember when the first bit of marketing episode 200 came out and someone said that it was filler and that they should done a background pony episode
