Spike is a child, rarity is an adult. How do so many people not get this?
Not really, later episodes say something else
If you want spoilers, then the episode’s premise is that Spike stops hanging out with Rarity and she acts like she’s going through a breakup. It’s the typical ‘they’re just good friends, they totally aren’t dating guys!’ so there’s plausible deniability, but yes, they created a new ship and practically sank the old one.
Because that’s got to rank right up there with Seven of Nine/Chakotay in terms of “official pairings that came out of absolutely nowhere.”

I mean, I guess you could just mod the names of ships and such?
I cannot imagine what would such a mod do in such a game.
