I didn’t know they were continuing the comics, that sounds pretty cool actually! On the other hand Idk how I feel about gen 5 having anything to do with with gen 4. Sure I would like to see what happens to everybody but I also want something completely brand new. Maybe with the comics and gen 5 we’ll get both?

it’s technically not ending because the series is continuing with a season 10 … in the comics. I guess hasbro wanted to keep the series going while also making a new series so they can sell more toys. I personally would have preferred if gen 5 was a continuation of the series. they could have gone with the prequel movie beginning after the last problem and twilight accidentally creating a rift that would act as a reboot with maybe them having some memories of gen 4. the comic and gen 5 show would act as two alternate timelines.

right! Now that thats out the way, i liked the final ending. it had a lot more feeling and calm reality to it. it was…a nice ending. though unfortunately twilight now has to live with the curse of an extended life seeing many a friend pass away and theres nothing she can do about that.
 
Old age is nothing i fear. (to clarify, im in my 20’s)  
i would rather walk with a cane and a smile looking back or even talking about it with someone close to me. one day im gonna lay down on a bed and, by sods law, i wont wake up. thats fine by me. Personally, living a longer time and defying nature by remaining physically young and fit is nothing but a nightmare for me. but thats just my perspective.
 
i dont know what lays beyond death but there is one thing that i do know about it with my short time on this planet.  
Once we pass on, those who love us will miss us dearly.

That’s part of why I liked the ending a lot, it had more feeling to it knowing that they could die separately (it’s possible they could die in battle together or sacrifice themselves maybe? Idk). We will all live to see a friend die and twilight will be no exception to that, which to me personally gives it more meaning.
 
Sure it would’ve been a happier ending if they all became princesses but it also would’ve felt really anticlimactic and boring. That and people probably would’ve grown angry at the fact that there are more alicorns but that’s a whole other can of worms I don’t wanna open

Sadly, S09E26 indirectly confirmed what many fans speculated for years: Twilight WILL see all her friends wither away and die. Whereas she got physically bigger and presumably long-lived like Celestia and Luna, all other characters are shown with wrinkles and/or grey hair. Many characters are even missing, so they presumably died or moved on already (Winona, the Cakes, Mayor Mare etc.).
 
Still, I guess it’s better the writers kept it real, instead some “everybody becomes a princess” bullshit that happened at the end of G3 MLP…
