Finally got my lazy (not really actually because I’ve been so busy with work ‘cuz holidays and whatnot) ass to draw something! I really really wanted to draw some more NG art but had no idea what to draw. Suddenly I thought back to a sketch I made some time ago and wanted to just redo the whole thing from scratch. I got my new computer and it runs really smoothly. I wanted to test out SAI 2 and GOD is it so much better than SAI. I love how smooth it is on my computer! So many new, useful features! So I wanted to try my hand at drawing in my original style again and experimented a little to see what I could do to make it look better. I’m pretty damn happy with this, and it didn’t even take me that long to finish either -
ANYWAYS, enough blabbering lol. Really hope you enjoy this one! Wanted to do something for Luna! I know I haven’t quite uploaded her and her family yet, but I promise I will get there as soon as I finish their bios! For now, have the origin story for how Luna had kids. I’ve had this specific idea for Luna for a while and I’m so excited to share it with you guys~
One more thing to add: I loved drawing Luna, she was so fun to draw <3

Luna laid somberly on her bed in Silver Shoals. It was night, always a treat for her. It looked like Twilight Sparkle was doing well keeping up with the day and night cycle. Princess Twilight… she thought about her and her husband, Flash Sentry, for a moment. She thought about Twilight’s children. Twilight was so happy with her family. She pushed her thoughts aside. She glanced next to her. There, stood a lonesome bed. The bed that used to be her dear sister’s. Celestia had moved out of their home in Silver Shoals to be with her husband, Discord, in his wonderful little Chaos Dimension. Celestia also had three children of her own, and she was also very happy. Luna sighed and sadly turned her gaze to the window. She stared outside and thought about how… lonely she felt. All cooped up in her home, all alone with nopony by her side. At least, not anymore. She was very happy for her sister, but she felt lost without her by her side. Now, she had nopony to turn to in gloomy times like these. She sighed again and rested her chin against the windowsill.
“What a beautiful night it is. Too bad I have to spend it alone…” Luna said quietly to herself. She felt tears start to form in her eyes as she thought about the ponies around her that had such happy lives. Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy… all of them were happy and had their own children. But Luna had no children, nor nopony to spend this beautiful night with. She felt tears roll down her cheeks and onto the windowsill. She thought for a moment about how beautiful it would be to have children of her own. She quickly wiped away the tears and jolted up.
“Maybe I should think about some children of my own,” she pondered. She decided to weigh out her options. She used her magic to lift a pen and a paper and placed them on the table in front of her. She wrote down her options as she thought.
“Let’s see… hmmm, adoption? No, too expensive…” she shook her head and crossed off ‘Adoption’ on her list. She thought again for a moment then wrote down her next option.
“A sperm donor? No, I’d rather not have to deal with the pain of childbirth,” she crossed off ‘Donor’ on her list. Luna wasn’t a fan of the idea of childbirth in itself. She had watched her sister go through it twice already, and yes, it was a beautiful moment for her sister when she was finished, and she had always said it was worth it, but she’d rather not experience it herself. She had heard nasty rumors about it that scared her away from the idea. Also, pain, which she wasn’t a huge fan of. She thought again, then wrote down another set of words.
“Find a random stallion on the streets to hook up with and let him have his way with me? No, too dangerous and risky. Also not very practical and it’ll still give me childbirth pain…” she trailed off, crossing off ‘Find a random stallion on the streets to hook up with and let him have his way with me’. She was starting to run out of ideas. Either they were too expensive, involved childbirth, or were too impractical. She tapped her chin trying to think of any other ideas she could come up with. She finally got her final idea and she widened her eyes in excitement. However, she glanced at the paper and read what she just wrote out loud to herself.
“Use magic,” she stated. She frowned and stared down at the words in front of her. Using magic would be the best option for her, because it didn’t involve childbirth nor did it involve money she didn’t have. However, using magic to create a child had many risks, and you were guaranteed to be granted a child that had a deformity or disability of some sort due to the intensity of the spell and the way it worked. On top of that, the spell was super difficult to cast, even for an alicorn with strong, magical abilities like she had. This spell would certainly put a strain on Luna, and had a chance of hurting her physically. Luna pondered this option for a moment. Celestia had always told her never to use the spell, because there were too many risks involved with it, but Luna was starting to feel desperate. She slammed her hooves on the table and sat up.
She was going to do this. She wanted a family of her own. She didn’t care if her child ended up with a deformity or disability in the end of it. She knew that any pony was still a pony, and she would love her magically-conjured child no matter how they looked or how they acted. She got off her bed and stood in the middle of the room. She did some breathing exercises to prepare herself for the spell. She cleared her mind and shut her eyes and started casting the spell. She had already learned the spell before, but never finished casting it, so she was hoping it would work.
She bit her bottom lip as the magic from her horn got more intense. Wind was starting to pick up from the spell, and her hair was starting to blow around. The magic got more intense and Luna started sweating and groaning. She squeezed her eyes shut and the magic got even more intense. She eventually opened her eyes wide open when the magic was close to being the most intense it could get. She was sweating heavily, but still focused on doing the spell correctly. She groaned again and she got engulfed in a cloud of her magic. She got lifted up into the air and was floating. A strange, but ticklish sensation swept through her body. It was very distracting, but she needed to finish the spell as she was almost done. She squeezed her eyes shut again and used the rest of the energy she had to do another blast of magic to finish up her spell. A bright, white flash filled the room and before she knew it, she fell right onto the floor.
She landed with a loud thud. She panted and scrambled to her feet, grabbing onto the bed next to her to help her pull herself up. She draped herself over what was Celestia’s bed and saw two cribs in the corner of the room. Her face lit up with excitement and scrambled over to the cribs. She made the realization that there were two cribs instead of one and her face fell into a confused look.
“Wait a minute, why are there two cribs? Isn’t there only supposed to be one?” she asked herself, leaning over to glance into the cribs. Sure enough, there were two babies instead of one, like she had originally planned for. Her jaw dropped to the floor in surprise. She gulped and placed a hoof on her head.
“Oh dear. Two babies? That’s more than I anticipated! No wonder why the spell was so hard to cast!” Luna said in a panic. The spell was only supposed to give you one baby, at least, that’s what she thought. Then again, she had never actually finished the spell before…
“How am I going to afford to pay for two babies?” she asked in a panic. She glanced in the cribs again and took some time to look at her babies. One was a girl, and she looked very similar to Luna. Only, she had completely jet-black hair and a gradient on her wing. She also had a noticeable deformity - she had gotten two extra legs. Despite this, she still looked super cute laying in her crib. Luna glanced over to the other baby. This one was a boy. He didn’t look quite as similar to her, but he did have dark hair and a wing gradient like his twin sister. He also had noticeable deformities - he had gotten an extra leg and an extra horn. But Luna didn’t care about that. Not at all. She smiled as she looked down at her new children. They were just beautiful. She already loved them. She felt tears well up in her eyes again, but this time, these were tears of joy. She reached into the cribs and picked the babies up and held them in her arms. She was a mother now, and she was going to give these two children all her love.
Luna glanced out the window again. The moon was still shining, and there was now a ray of moonlight shining into the room, lighting it very beautifully. It even shined on her new children, illuminating them beautifully. Her smile got bigger and she snuggled up close to them. She pointed at her daughter.
“I’ll name you… Dark. Your hair is perfect for it,” she said with a smile. She looked at her son.
“And I’ll name you… Dusk. A nice contrast to Dark since your hair isn’t quite as dark as your sister’s, just as dusk isn’t quite as dark as, well, dark,” she said with a smile. Her babies shifted in her hooves and she smiled at them. She took them back to their cribs and gently placed them down. She moved the cribs closer to her bed and moved Celestia’s old bed out of the way. She smiled and crawled into bed and looked at her babies. How beautiful they were. Now, she wouldn’t have to be alone anymore. She sighed happily and covered herself with her blankets and gently closed her eyes. What a beautiful night this had been for her.

I tried to word this in the nicest way I possibly could. I don’t know if deformities have a more scientific name behind them, but if they do I’d love to know so that I can use that instead so that I don’t sound rude, unless it isn’t rude and I’m just being paranoid lol, I just wanna be respectful is all -
So in my NG headcanon, I have this idea that you can use magic to make your own child. The spell basically copies your genes (hence why Luna felt a “strange, but ticklish sensation”) then randomizes them to create a child for you. So magical babies end up looking a lot like the parent who casted the spell but mixed with different genes and traits. One of the risks of casting this spell is the baby getting some type of deformity or disability. It is always 100% guaranteed that they will get one or the other, or even both, which is the case for Luna’s twins. The spell is also super difficult to cast which is why even somepony as powerful as Luna is had such a hard time casting it. It just takes all your energy and willpower to cast it and you gotta concentrate hard to do it. ‘Cuz I mean, it’s literally making a child so I figured it would be difficult. Also, the spell can randomize how many children you get out of it, but usually you only get one to three children out of it. More than that are definitely possible though. I’ve never seen anything like this done before, so I really wanted to explore this idea! I also want to explore disabilities/deformities and how her twins are gonna deal with that, but obviously I want to try to explore it in a respectful manner. I got plans tho so I’ll reveal more about them when the time comes~
