Interesting. If you look on this whole fusion process, it’s almost the same thing that Miss Nova “Tazlbutt” Spark doing. I mean, the process itself have almost the same result (even if mad scientist’s way is far more… disturbing, than your fusion). But, Emperor forgive me, I still can’t drive in this mind-sharing thing.  
I know, that pretty large amount of human beings asked this, but who is “in charge” in those amalgamas? Cuz’ looking back on the PHG’s fusion, it looks like component ponies are just swaping eachother when they want it even if the process is half-finished.

The latter is more true than the former. Yes their minds will still remain intact, but it is what you will see Umbra do that will show how she attains dominance and ultimately control over the shared body and mind. Think of like the cartoon Dragon Ball Z. The character majin buu did absorb and in a sense fuse with the minds of the his victims, at the same time preserving them within his mind.
 
In the same, it is what we will see Umbra do with the other mares she fuses with. Utilizing their minds and skills while not destroying them altogether.

Not necessarily, normally they would all just share the same headspace with each other, playing as mere parts of a mind that operates independent of their own thoughts but drives from their influence. This will not be that case as Sombra or may I say Umbra intends to be the dominant mind in the fusion, controlling not just the conscious of the fusion but the directly the actions of the fusion itself.

Are they really doomed if they’ll still exist, just as the same entity?

I have nothing against fusion in general - even like the proces - BUT there is nothing interesting in those comics outside of an excuse for the random fusions… The stories happening alongside the images are just bland and all of them conclude on the same basic.
 
When this page >>2200525 showed up i was thinking maybe the “fusion” stuff will be implemented in a difrent mener then last 100 times. Maybe the writer had an original idea! But nope it will be again about poor little tommy the human getting(probably) to be harassed by big old badies but mama and papa(that at that point probably be the only bloody ponies left as they absorbed the whole damn Equestria creatures) will make it all good.  
Then i hope they will absorb each-others and Tommy at the end and create a black-hole from the compressed mass that will suck this whole universe into nothingness so something more original can be born…
 
God i dont even know why i hate this so much… i like the art, i like the sexy plots being fused but the story… the self-insert oc… the cringe… i think there is a bit of each of this in this and all together it just get on my nerw… But i keep damn torturing myself and read…

I don’t know really ;3 . To most of the people that read these comics, this was what they expected and wanted. At the same time I am more than happy to oblige, I myself of course liking to idea of fusion. Despite as unoriginal it is by now.

And they will start to marge into one… GOD DAMN IT… And i was hoping it will be something original…. HOW many times can you make the same comic just with difrent characters??? Its so bland…
