Actually, everything that she’s done throughout the series has built her up to this moment. This isn’t as sudden as you’d like to believe. Don’t try to disregard the rest of the foreshadowing just to make a weak point.  
And don’t start with the ruined forever nonsense, especially when nothing’s shown. Your panicky attitude and inabilty to see where the positive possibilities can go is characteristic of the rest of the maniacal hodge podge.

Character development doesn’t come in the form of suddenly becoming a demigod. It has to be built up to and foreshadowed.
 
Yeah, the show has tried to some degree to foreshadow this, but outside of the Season 3 two-parter, it has done very little to ease this big, important event onto people.
 
The finale will likely end up being 11 minutes explaining the hows and whys of Twi’s sudden promotion, all of which should’ve been spread out over several episodes, and 11 minutes for the actual story of the episode to take place. How this can NOT look like a train wreck shoehorned into a tiny package will take a miracle.
 
How future episodes can even hope to sustain this barely-thought-out concept is beyond me. It’s likely it will destroy the central dynamics of the main cast and throw the show into a downward spiral that even M.A. Larson cannot stop.

Everony is all butthurt about a characters possible role change and appearance change. It is called character development. Deal with it all, it happens in every show, movie, cartoon, comic, story, anime, game, real life, dreams, alternate realities, not so alternate realities, you get the idea. I stand behind Alicorn Twilight Sparkle. It was some thing I hoped would/could happen since Celestia spoke of her needing to learn all she could about the magic of friendship. Most understand, that yeah, one of the mane cast is changing. Most deep down are kind of excited, even if they are some of the ones whining. Look at it this way, the change could open up a whole new standard for the show. Possible story arcs. More BG pony involvement as stated above. There could be more hilarious Sparklastophies in the future. I trust the directions the team is taking, and I think the haters and whiner, and all of those who are truly butthurt need to just calm down and give the new Twi a chance. The team have yet to lead us wrong yet. I just hope in the future, we can get some more history about Celestia and Luna’s past.

Sure, spotlight episodes like Justice League Unlimited. It’s still mostly about the original 7/mane 6, but every so often, Booster Gold/Vinyl Scratch take center stage. I could get down with that.
 
Only problem: Twilight needed to learn about friendship so she could use the elements of harmony and also because she was a loner, Dottie. A rebel. As much as I’d like to see it, that doesn’t really apply to, say, the flower trio.

well if this would be the case, then twilight would effectively be taken out of the show because she wouldn’t be interacting with the story or plot  
kinda like how celestia,s barely in the show now

I for one would love me some more screentime for Applejack.
