Maybe I remember when I was commenting about wishing that things like rainbow road should be released on Blu-ray a reply I got was that there would be no point because it would have no enhancements. I guess apparently looking better than a DVD isn’t an enhancement

Even if there isn’t much in special features, it’d be cool just to have the series on Blue Ray, especially ’cause the show is made in HD.

Oh, sorry. I was thinking of James Rolfe’s commentary about all the cool things DVDs usually offered that BluRay doesn’t often bother with, and imagining how cool it would be to have those in a proper MLP:FIM collected series.

I’m assuming your being sarcastic, but surprisingly, there are some rereleases that have less material then the previous version had.  
Though, sometimes it’s understandable due to legal reasons, and such.

Having dvd extras showing interviews, creator commentaries, storyboards, and specially director’s cuts, and other discarded material would be amazing!

Well, that wasn’t just Disney, all the companies started doing that, to give the new releases more reason to exist.

Yesterworld did a video on the Disney vault and apparently the difference in bonus features was just there strategy to get more people into buying the new release

True, oftentimes times upgrades are only marginally better.

I wasn’t really talking about re-releases. I’m only guessing but I would imagine the Blu-ray release would not be seen as a big deal as the DVD release because Blu Ray wasn’t much of an upgrade from DVD as DVD were from VHS

Not always, like compare the DVD & Blue Ray releases of some older movies.
 
James’ criticisms, and such here are interesting, and he has a point on some things. So Blue Ray isn’t always perfect either.  
Though, I think streaming isn’t perfect either, as some stuff can be hard to find on streaming services.

Well if you look at it a modern DVD it wouldn’t be much different to the Blu-ray outside of resolution. It might be because of digital releases becoming more common

Yeah, I understand that, but as James said, they oddly don’t put as much effort into the menus, and stuff as they used to with DVDs, and such.
 
I was surprised to find out Sony actually owns the Blue-Ray format.

That’s more on the publisher than the actual Blu-ray itself

Seems kinda sacreligious to only have two characters on the box, but would be a nice release.
 
Y’know, James Rolf (the AVGN) did an interesting video showing that while Blue Ray has better picture quality, there are still some major flaws with the format, and actually some DVDs do some things better. (Like the packaging, menus, and special features.)
 
I got the Aladdin Blue Ray, and I was disapointed, all the cool stuff on the original DVD was not in it.

Those Brony documentaries both have blu-rays.Occasionally some other countries get blu-rays.Germany and Japan I think.

How I really wish there was a Blu-Ray of the show
 
Too bad Shout thinks that only the target audience (Little Children) will buy the show, and doesn’t focus on the vast fandom majority who already owns Blu-Ray players and would gladly buy a physical copy on Blu-Ray
