Random motivation! Yay!
 
I was listening to “Am I Supposed To Apologize” and I got the sudden urge to draw Stygian for my MLP Redesign series I’m making. I feel like, out of all the MLP villains, Stygian got the LEAST attention or development, despite having one of the COOLEST concepts! We never even saw his cutie mark for Luna’s sake! So yeah, I absolutely had to rewrite and fix this tragic boy. New backstory! Here we go!
 
Back in the early years of Equestria, the mighty wizard Starswirl the Bearded was a wise and powerful spellcaster for the princesses. To this day, the spells he created are taught to every unicorn with the potential to cast them. However, few ponies know of his darker side. His assistant Stygian was frequently mistreated by the wizard. The slender stallion had some great magic of his own, and Starswirl envied him for even the slightest accomplishment. Whenever Stygian tried to prove himself, Starswirl would shove him to the wayside each time. Overcome with resentment and anger, Stygian turned to the shadows…
