I’d like even a redeemed Chrysalis to still have some edge to her.

I personally like to think that Chrysalis ‘reformed’ the way the Wicked Queen/Lillian did in the old TV show ‘The Charmings’. I.e., she’s no longer nightmarishly evil but she does so love to make her old enemies’ lives hell.

“Now this is gonna be a long way to pull this off,” Starlight said, the thick book cupped in blue mist in front of her. “It will take hours and hours of hard work and enormous discipline in studying ethics and moral philosophy.”
 
Chrysalis’s forehead struck the wooden surface of the table with a loud smack. “I can’t wait,” she said through her gritted teeth.
 
Starlight smile curled at the grin. “You and I gonna spend a lot of time together,” she said and let the book landed next to Chrysalis elbow. “We are gonna have tests, quizzes, and practical assignments.” Starlight gave a satisfactory nod. “So much fun.”
 
The former changeling queen lifted her head and rolled her green eyes. “Could you remind me why I’m doing this?”
 
Starlight arched an eyebrow at her. “To avoid eternal damnation in the stone.”
 
“…oh yeah, right,” she said. “I just wanted to be clear about it.”

I am here against my will.

Throw the book at her.

I wish I could think of an original comment for this situation aside from saying that I approve of the better ending for Chrysalis concept.

I don’t know, this amount of petrification and unpetrification cannot be healty for her skin (or carapace in this case)

Maybe she takes the classes during the day and goes back into stone at night. If she learns well enough, they’ll let her remain free on weekends.
