We could also say Rainbow Dash is a ‘pure’ pegasus from a family of nothing but pegasi, which is why she is such a talented flyer.

making a pony that is scared of heights a pegasus is a bit of a cruel joke,but then again it balances the ‘two of each’ type in the elements: pegasi,earth pony,and unicorn.

I don’t think you can be “half” Earth Pony. No one considers Pound Cake to be “part” Pegasus. He’s a Pegasus, even though his parents are both Earthies. It’s not a heritage thing, it’s a functional thing.

Pony races don’t seem to work that way. Pound and Pumpkin seemed to be fully pegasus and unicorn despite only having distant ancestors of those races.

I like to think she has really traditionalist Pegasi whom think putting their hooves on the ground is just… unnatural for a pegasus
