I was teaching this one lady how to use my bow. When I told her to release and shoot the arrow, she just let go off the handle!
My brain could not process this. What did she think would happen??? And so, naturally, a perfect comic opportunity!
I’m thinking about making “IRON and STEEL” a series of short comic strips. All characters will be original, and the action will be taking place in my universe.
QUESTIONS:
What do you think about such idea?
Would you be interested in reading the comics?
Though, physics-wise, she’d still run into a problem once she let go of the string. Sure, her hoof is keeping the bow from going back toward her, but there’s nothing keeping it from going FORWARD once she releases the string. After the arrow flies, the bow will probably get a little distance as well… unless she has spidey-hooves, which is fine by me, but isn’t thematically consistent with the horseshoe-hook.
Maybe a hook on the back of the left forehoof? That way the hoof is in front of the grip, the hook is behind it, and the hook could still be out of the way for walking.
I love the simplicity of turning the string hook 90 degrees to release. Very clever!
Pretty interesting <-<
Too complex for you, you mean.
(Some) Hollywood movies and video games have been demonstrating proper helicopter take off, flight and landing procedures for decades now. The fact you find flying a helicopter too complex by watching a video or playing a video game does not mean other people do not understand the process by watching a video or playing a video game.
This little hook/trigger is a part of the horseshoe. I believe it’s also detachable. The arrow is released by twisting the hook 90°.

Find a valid comparison please. The complexity involved in flying a helicopter is uncomparable - and more importantly almost never actually shown - to shooting a bow, which is “grab bow with one hand, put arrow on with pointy end closer to your grabby arm, push the feathery end against the string with other hand, aim, simultaneously push with the bow arm and pull with string arm, aim precisely, release string”.
Why would it? Does your brain parse flying a helicopter because of the myriad of movies and games where flying a helicopter is shown?
Yay more Skies pons!

Does it not parse all the myriad movies and games where bow shooting is actually shown?
‘was’ Flower Skies. I changed her name to Karoline Skies. Here is the updated ref sheet c:

And its not uncommon. If you’re not used to using a bow and arrow your brain registers it as “most of the force is on my bow arm and not the arrow arm, therefore I should let the bow go to release the most force”.
Of course I was actually trying to hit the bullseye, and missed by (given the size of the target) several feet, but it was fun for a moment to act like I had Robin Hooded the thing intentionally. And nowadays it makes for a fun story whenever people ask me to do something that requires some degree of aiming accuracy.
