More taking half-steps forward and half-steps back.  
Derpibooru is more or less destroyed because one side wanted total control, power over others and their beliefs and enforce right-think almost straight outta “1984”, and the other just wanted shit to be left alone and let the blacklist be used to filter, regardless if there really was nazism/fascism/communism/socialism/capitalism. Everyone else with their own personal philosophy and political view was dragged in and defended their sides with almost volatile and hostile way, as well as nitpicking at each other’s words so they can call “WITCH!” and start attacking.
 
Because in all honesty, that’s exactly what brought insanity IRL as well as bringing Derpibooru down to its inevitable end as well as the ponyfandom except for the fallout survivors who cling to what they knew, remember and have: Fanatical Witch-hunting in the name of either Progress or Conservation.
 
In the end, this was neither progressive no matter how much they may argue and start screaming at me like I’m another witch for them to burn (I know Twitter/Facebook and other MSM would do it in a heartbeat with loving hateful abandon), but what’s conserved isn’t the same anymore.
