In my work, my focus is to empower those on the autism spectrum. Awareness is not really my concern – but rather showing that many on the spectrum are far more capable than popularly thought. In most of my stories, you may see the effects of the spectrum without it being explicitly pointed out.

I also love music from classic eras such as the 60s, 70s and 80s. I do like some songs from the 2000s forward, but I tend to focus especially on previous eras. It’s kind of my “fixation”, as people on the spectrum tend to have.
 
By turns, my OC Mellow is a lot like that as well. If Nightlight were curious about seeing a pony like him perform, I’m sure he could arrange music she’d feel comfortable with and moved by!

Thanks for asking that question! After giving it a little thought, I think the answer would be this: Nightlight loves mainly music that has a soothing quality.
 
Nightlight would love a lot of the smooth jazz from the ’80s and ’90s, along with many pop songs from that time. She prefers a volume that is loud and clear – but still easy on the ears. In my work, most of the technology is early 20th century or older. Therefore, Nightlight would enjoy a lot of pre-rock music. She would also enjoy a lot of the music from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s.
 
Nightlight would enjoy some hard rock songs, especially ones that lift her spirits or allow her to vent anger. She would also enjoy some hip-hop songs. She doesn’t generally enjoy sad stories, though many of her favorite songs have a tone that is less than happy. She wouldn’t have many favorite songs from the 2000s forward, though there are some. This is probably because too many songs from that time forward do not have much substance to her.
 
Nightlight’s brother does not let her listen to nasty lyrics. Fortunately, she is at the stage where she cannot normally enjoy or ignore such lyrics. In any case, where she lives, such songs are mostly taboo. (In some of the big cities, this is not the case.)

Yep! And agreed on both counts - It is great to see genuinely positive representations of the autistic community on the internet, even in spite of all the memes, jibes, and decidedly less “palatable” and “savoury” aspects that many people online seem to focus on (Chris-Chan, to name one).
 
I myself take all those memes in stride, and don’t mind having a laugh about all that stuff now and then, but I am certainly not ashamed to have it - and it has helped me try to learn about and better myself through the years.
 
On the pandemic note, it’s just great to know we’ve got sweet and beautiful pony OCs like Nightlight to experience while we’re all hanging in there. It helps us to keep going :)

Then again, I think the world as a whole needs more positivity, especially since, as of this writing, we are still going through a global pandemic that has disrupted the lives of many people around the world. So seeing positive imagery here certainly helps with that a lot.

You’re an aspie as well? That is amazing! And yes, I would love to see more of nightlight in Derpibooru. It is so nice to see positive representation of the autistic community here, especially since there have been some rather critical Aspie posts here in the past.

As an aside, my OC, Mellow Rhythm, would assuredly be interested in making friends with her if he ever got to know her (after all, his wife Glass Sight is similar in some ways to Nightlight, so he definitely has experience with ponies of her ilk).
 
However, I wonder what Nightlight’s feelings about certain music like Hard Rock and Metal would be? Mellow plays and listens to that music.  
I know that many others on the spectrum do not like loud noises. I don’t, but I make exceptions when it comes to loud music I enjoy.
