By studying pictures of Casabronco, I found out that elements from all over Africa have been brought in in the choice of buildings to be drawn in. But Andyprice are not skilled in scenery drawings. That’s his weakness. The port city has large jungle areas and open space (with dry cactus-clad lawns) around with several port facilities and sights that indicate that it is primarily a communication center with museums and restaurants intended for tourists and travelers. These large pyramid and ziggurat-like buildings can be residential buildings for wealthy residents or hotels.
 
For it seems that the majority of the population preferred more primitive buildings based on African residential buildings. Not strange; the hot climate and lack of air conditioning make this necessary. Several tents show that some of the inhabitants are nomads. It is possible that the location was chosen by having the large hillsides that can provide shelter from the heat around a bay, with easy access to more open land along the coast. Also, Andyprice likes volcanoes. The volcano in the background shows that they have rich soil there for agriculture. It is not far between the mountains and the coast, this is not seen in Equestria.
 
So Casabronco is not as prosperous as Manehattan, but was definitely the most important port city on the farasian coast. This is not where Zecora lived, it is likely in the city of Zebrat which is the residence of one of the four princes. Zebrat may be the traditional city we would expect from the zebras with tribal culture and spirituality. If Zecora is from there, and if she is a little higher up the social ladder, it will be a natural background for her skills as a shaman. It is a question of whether this city is located along the coast or up in the highlands. We know from the covers that it is possible AJ and her friends have to get high up to reach the zebras’ home.
 
The distance between Casabronco and the highlands behind the mountain peaks seemed to be short for a day trip. This will be natural, as Africa has highlands along all coastal stripes no matter how far you go deep into the continent. The word “Farasi” may mean more than just zebras as abadas and kelpies also live there. We do not know if Farasi is divided into four principalites after each “race” such as zebra, abada and kelpie and one more, or if they are all dominated by zebras.
 
The kelpies can control water and temperature, and obviously have the ability to change shape through their water manipulation. So they will naturally live in the rivers and out at sea along the coast. The abadas, on the other hand, seemed to be from barren and arid lands with a lot of desert, based on their appearance and names. We know that the kelpies have several kingdoms in the seabed such as the legendary city of Coltatlantis. Not so much about the abadas, but their ability to use magic and the background as creatures from desert lands can mean that they are more nomadic. The zebras are clearly far more developed in their civilization than the others, especially since they do not use magic (like donkeys …).
 
Andyprice is skilled on his work, but he tends to use the American human society as a model for his depictions of everyday life, and may go a little too far in the “Americanizing” of Equestria and other countries.

Several of the buildings in a picture show that only the best from the whole continent were taken as the mosque in Timbuktu to create the scenery when Applejack and her expedition arrived. At least we know that this country, Farasi, is located in the southern part of the planet.
 
Zecora’s behavior suggests that she was hiding a dark secret that had caused her to rage against AJ, and it seemed to be motivated by fear above all else. AJ seemed to realize this, and thus chose not to confront her in the belief that Zecora will eventually admit what it is that scared her away from home. It shows that AJ has grown up, and we now know that it took 9 years from Twilight came to Ponyville, until the royal sisters retired. All these years had matured her as an adult pony. Maybe because she had put the past behind her, something Whitley pointed out. Zecora has not done so.
 
Zecora’s reaction in meeting with her friends may indicate that she may be in the belief that one of these may be an enemy, this is indicated by the cover of # 91. And a monster attack right after she got home? I do not believe in coincidences. It’s obvious that Zecora needs to confront her past with secrets and mistakes. In # 90, Zecora’s secret past will be revealed, and in # 91 she will be able to follow Applejack to become an adult, by confronting her problems. She had long behaved responsibly and grown up over the years, but only as long as she felt safe.
 
In the end, Twilight and AJ did her a favor, as she can go on with her life rather than be in self-imposed exile.

Casablanca and Rabat, so we’re in the equivalent of Morocco – and the background art seems to fit it well (from what little I know of the place).

I wouldn’t be. Daughter running away from royalty is rather cliche. I’d rather there be more to Zecora’s exit than that.
