He managed to give her a small smile, his cheeks flushing with heat as he noticed Rarity staring into his eyes, a small blush on her cheeks as well.  
He thought about if their relationship has changed at all. Was she returning his feelings? But even if not, he knew he would always be crushing on her. She is far too beautiful to ever forget.  
And he knew she liked to nuzzle him and kiss him on his cheek.  
“Spike? Is something wrong?”, she asked in her lady-like voice, to which he replied “No, Mylady”  
Rarity noticed him leaning towards her, but before she could realize it, his lips touched hers in a greedy kiss.
 
Because Spike would not hold back for so long - one of these days he would want a real kiss on the lips instead of just always on his cheek.
 
Why yes, ponies have invaded my gallery now also in another form besides the usual plushie form.
 
This is my submission for the December-Draw-off competition on Equestria Daily. I at first started to sketch this drawing right after seeing the episode “Secret of my Excess”, having this really strong urge to draw some Spike x Rarity. But after sketching three (!) pictures of which none was satisfying enough, I came to the conclusion that I want to really do my best this time and that when I do, I will submit this picture as an entry. I hope kisses are still considered okay.  
I will be entering this in the Traditional Drawings category.
 
So yes… I am a waaaay too romantic person and I ship pretty easily, as some persons may know.  
Spike the dragon has been my all-time favourite in “My little Pony: Friendship is Magic”; the only male character with the most screentime, the only one who behaves mature enough even as a baby dragon, and him being the only one with the really cool clothes and sarcasm just screams for him to be loved.  
The other character in the picture is Rarity, a seamstress and fashion designer who, despite being vain, knows that friends are much more important than any career.
 
Even before the episode “Secret of my Excess” I was rather tending to ship them; one reason being that Spike already is crushing on Rarity on his own; the second being that Rarity kinda more often is seen with Spike and has been using him for jobs that he willingly takes on (like taking out the trash or digging for gems). And GEMS. They both adore rare gemstones. Dragons like Spike in this show have the tendency to horde large amounts of those. Rarity has quite a bunch of those in her home as well. So, this is a topic they share too, just like their vanity. Spike is known to look into the mirror every once in a while. telling himself how handsome he looks. Rarity would do anything to stay beautiful herself.  
Both have been seen that when they are on their good side, they are both generous. In their dark sides they are greedy hoarders.  
Seeing it like this, they really belong together. At least in my mind, not necessarily in those of others.
 
I haven’t hoped to see anything for this shipping in the series itself, but then this episode happened. In which Spike gave away a very precious gem of his to Rarity, and she kissed him on the cheek in this episode twice and nuzzled him (cheek by cheek). And then this happened: [link] and I was hooked.
 
So, Spike grows older and more greedy in this episode. If greed alone is enough to make him grow, would it be possible to let him be in a slightly bigger size if his greed is kept in check so that he doesn’t turn into Godzilla again?  
Would a certain greed for Rarity be enough to keep him at least pony-sized? Because, I like him pony-sized, right when he has his first growth-spurt. Which is why I chose this one for the picture.
 
Also, I really love my coloured pencils after all. I haven’t been using them for months and was so afraid I would ruin the picture, but it turns out to be quite okay. I will use the set my dad got me for Easter more often from now on.
