TvTropes call it ““kneel before Frodo[](http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/KneelBeforeFrodo)
We’re told that it’s something that has never been done before, but it doesn’t really feel it, you know? With everything she’s done, this just doesn’t feel like it was the culmination of it all.
The circumstances are different. In Mulan, for example, the Emperor bowed to her not for some new status she had acquired, but for her actions. If Celestia had bowed to Twilight after defeating Discord or Nightmare Moon, it could have worked, but here it feels really off. Her friends bowing is another can of worms.
Mulan didn’t even need to become royalty for it to happen to her.
Sudden idea for Season 4. Twilight’s still an obsessive compulsive, neurotic train wreck and eventually goes insane with power.
This happens a lot in fiction, it’s nothing new. Name me any show or movie where a character becomes royalty and there’s no instance of “oh?! your majesty! instant bow” I swear I saw it in a Disney movie or two (I think Wreck-It-Ralph had it too during the reveal with Vanelope).
