Yes but she got progressively dumber after she lost her hive
Convincing all but one person is botching an impersonation?
Confirming to who? Twilight? Why would it matter what she thinks? She’s trapped in the caves, which she’s already been successfully using to keep Cadance trapped. Someone else? No one was present when she trapped Twilight and no one even notices somethings wrong until its already far too late.
I don’t see how she’s to blame for that.
Given that changeling become more powerful by consuming love and ponies do not, that’s hardly surprising.
Again, how is this her fault? That seems like a failure of the drones in question.
I can’t recall if that’s all true, but assuming it is, why assume it was her responsibility?
Did she have a reason to think otherwise?
Better at being pragmatic? How so?
Did you watch her episodes before S9?
She botched an impersonation as Cadance, banished Twilight to confirm that she was right, instead of shooing her off another way, apologetic as she was, got into the position of magically duelling Celestia when she thought she’d lose, she scoffed at the Power of Love being a threat (which directly resulted in her defeat), her minions somehow failed to capture Sunburst, who sent Thorax off, and she personally knew about Starlight, yet decided to not only fail to replace her, but to not inform her minions (who’d be interacting with her) about her, seeing as none of them knew her name or who she was, not even the marginally competent Twilight impersonator, and she thought evil clones could utilize the EoH, in addition to making the mistake of making something stronger than herself, and if not smarter, than better at being pragmatic.
She may be crafty, smart, lucky, but Queen Chrysalis is the living embodiment of the Villain Ball. She is not a good long-range Machiavellian planner, at all; she’s too impulsive and is not particularly good at learning from her mistakes, much like Discord.
S9 Chrysalis has the intelligence of an actual bug
That is… actually good tactical advice.
