I’ve noticed Discord has gotten what is known as Ron the Death Eater, while he did mess up worse than ever and he should have definitely thought things through if not completely not have went through with this plan at all, he was still truly trying to help Twilight in his own way and was making an effort to be a good friend whether one likes the methods he went for or not. While a spirit of chaos who doesn’t often follow rule and order he does care this can be shown by how he bows to twilight when Princess Celestia states that she has proven even more than ever that she is truly ready.

Yea he has seen twilight as a friend since the ending of season 4, I would honestly say she’s his second favorite pony after Fluttershy, hes ultimately does want to be a good friend and has a good heart deep down.
I wouldn’t say he’s a good friend specifically but he’s trying to be despite inherently being a spirit of chaos and all his faults and no matter what anyone says that will always count for something.
Exactly I think he really does see Twilight as a friend and he actually does seem to respect her enough to bow down to her.
Me too he may tease her and she may get annoyed by his antics but he seems to care deep down.
