Whatever, the point was that this referenced exactly that fact that he swims in a vault of money.
90’s? Scrooge’s Money Bin (and Scrooge swimming in money) goes back to the early 1950’s. The original 80’s Duck Tales series, as good as it was, did not invent it.
Never once thought something like this would happen in SpongeBob so it’s indeed a generation thing. This is a reference to Scrooge McDuck from the Disney cartoon Ducktales back in the 90’s where he was known for often swimming in a massive vault full of money so Lyra is mimicking exactly what he did in the show.
Yeah if Scrooge McDuck can unrealistically swim in an entire vault of money like water, Lyra can probably pull this off just as equally.
