Yes, they did close down. But now it’s back! And they did mention something about “new management”. Many of their items are back in stock, I checked. Yay…
Don’t cheap out and get Chinese no-name brand on ebay or aliexpress or amazon. While big Chinese balloons are nice and soft and squeezable (and substantially cheaper), they’re also often flimsy and frequently many in a package will be defective.
Get solid, professional-grade ones like Cattex 36” longnecks or a big GL airship or the full “cloudbusters” that you can climb inside.
Tragically, Balloons-United closed down a few months back. Unless the rights were bought out.
Now, the main looner-centric stores are Balloon Ace (UK based) and Nordic Looners (Denmark based) and Jennyloons (Germany based). I’ve ordered from Bargainballoons a few times (Canada based) and the prices are good, even if the selection isn’t great. And I’ve never bought from balloonsworld (US based), but some people have recommended them since balloons-united closed.
You can find them at sites like balloons-united.com/en . That’s where I got a couple of mine IRL. They’re really REALLY REEEEEEEAALLLY squishy! And worth the money, too! ^^
