Fluttershy is the only pony Dapper will show her soft side around. Whenever she was scared, the yellow Pegasus would sing her a song, no matter her age. Even when she was in a bad mood and didn’t want to talk to anypony, Flutters would be there to cheer her up. So on the days that Lightning Dust would overwork her until she collapsed, Fluttershy would be there to tend to her filly. Of course, Fluttershy isn’t crazy about flying like Lightning, but she still disapproves of how hard she’s working their filly.
 
As an example, during a race, Dappers wing cramped up and broke, leading to an upset Lightning and a devastated Fluttershy. It led to mare to believe that such work on a young mare would not only her her physically, but mentally. That night in the hospital all Dapper Breeze talked about was how it was her fault that she broke her wing, when really it was all the overworking from the night before. Fluttershy finally built up the courage that night to confront her wife, and surprisingly, Lightning agreed to stop workin there so much, even though Fluttershy would be more content if she stopped working all together.
 
When Dappe first started flying as a filly, Lightning was ecstatic. She even went out and bought Dappers favorite cupcakes to celebrate. To Dapper, it was the day that would finally make her a true Pegasus, but to Lightning, it was the day that would start Dappers training. Dapper never wanted to train, sometimes her muscles would give out, but she was hauled right back up again. She hated every minute of it, really the only escape she could get was school or when she slept, which she did fall asleep in the middle of training from being woken up in the middle o the night. Honestly, Dapper would be a lot happier playing Buckball.
 
The day Dapper Breeze finally confronted her mother was the last day she could see her as caring. The whole time they were talking all Lightning Dust talked about was how she was confused, and that she wanted to be a world famous flier. Both had been so mad that they actually started shouting at each other, which was something abnormal since they lived in Fluttershys cottage. Unfortunately, Fluttershy was on a journey with her friends to help out a town outside of Equestria, but Dapper felt like it couldn’t wait. However, her mistake was trying to convince her mother to stop training all together, since she liked free flying, not routine.
 
That day Dapper considered that maybe Lightning only had her to carry on a legacy, but if that was true, than maybe she didn’t love Fluttershy at all. She didn’t want to accept it, sh she at least had to a pet the fact that her mother was a bad pony.
