I think drainpipes come with manhole covers, instead of sealing domed-hatches. At least I’ve never seen such a thing in my city and I’m pretty sure that we have drainpipes here. I’m pretty sure everybody who drives anything that rides low to the ground would hit something like that if it was placed on a paved road. Though insurance companies would probably include a clause about not being insured against driving over a domed hatch in the road.

Now I’m imaging a little half Changeling with Shining hair fly by. “Hi mom hi dad.”
Cadance: “SHINING HOW COULD YOU!” Runs off sobbing.
Shining: “Wait no Sweetie it was weird bug magic!”
Then Changedling in Thorax colors with Shining hair flies by. “Hi dad hi grandma.”
Chrysallis: “…HOW could you? I mean it’s not physical possible…even if he did swap genders…”
