I’m actually imagining something like this happening in the show itself. During the Season 8 Finale, when the blast from the Student 6’s Magic freed Starlight and restored the magic around Equestria again, it also blasted Cozy Glow that singed her clothes, hair and destroyed her shoes completely leaving her barefoot when she got imprisoned. She stayed that way without shoes when she got summoned by Grogar.
