I just feel she needs a little humility; to be taken down a peg nothing more.
fair enough
Now, I should clarify that I am not accusing you of being a dishonest person, merely that you using dishonest argumentation.
So I’m attacking your arguments and the logic you use really and I do apologize if you I caused personal offense.
However you are taking things which are minor
and then twisting them to mean something they don’t or taking them too seriously.
9/10 times this the mark of someone who is dishonest and anchored to a position.
And you have admitted the latter: you stated that Rarity is unappealing to you because she likes dresses and jewelry.
The fact of the matter is that you have been persistent in dogging these images with your displeasure at Rarity, over the same issues that you brought up.
So I decided to challenge this.
@RIG
I am not overanalyzing actually. I’m taking the most obvious explanation and not sweating over minor things the same way my opposition has.
And in all honesty I have nothing better to do.
I would but i don’t have an account on the site….I see your points i really do…and maybe i’m being a bit stuburn and bias…I don’t hate Rarity I just wish there was more to her… but one thing why are you attack me…i’ve said nothing against you…i’ve only talked about Rarity,,,yet your calling me dishonest and the such…not that it really does anything to me..and in truth we are speaking of a cartoon pony…so in the end what does it matter. (Would i have to register to see messeges because i don’t see it)
Anyway by all accounts you won this arguement…will this change my attitude towards Rarity probably not..and to be honest it really doesn’t matter….a cartoon is afterall a cartoon. I still think she deserves to be told off because in general she’s always won whatever shes done which kinda makes her boring a character (and the fact her eps have to do with jewelary and dresses just don’t appel to me.)
but whatever have a pleasent day.
also you claim that because she was hurt by Fluttershy insulting her she doesnt care for others… when in Sisterhooves (the episode you are comparing to) she took it on herself to make it up to Sweetie because she realized how unfair she had been and forgave Fluttershy for making her cry.
So you assertion is dubious at best and it seems quite obvious that you did not think about it much.
The fact of the matter remains that both episodes were written by different writers who were trying to accomplish different things.
So trying to make a comparison is inane, particularly when her later actions in both episodes defy your conclusion.
yea, you are giving minor examples.
And I pointed out that crying because your friend just insulted her is not comparable to not crying because you mistreated your sister and want to get her back.
Sorry but you have 5 second scenes that say little about her to buttress your position.
Sleepless was only for a joke, just because you took it too seriously doesnt change that. She was affectionate and playful with Sweetie for the rest of the episode.
To call it slavery is disingenuous when Sweetie was happy to oblige as well as the mark of someone who is looking for reasons to get angry at a fictional character
Having Spike take out the trash and making fun of AJ are very minor, especially when you consider that Rarity has gone out of the way to help Spike and Applejack in several episodes (Dragon Quest, Suited, SoME to name a few)
And I did not prove your point. You ignored what I said and cherrypicked the parts you liked.
If she were trying to short Spike she would have given him one of the smaller gems and not the centerpiece gem.
So she obviously wasnt trying to short Spike… and the gem she gave was more valuable than the others.
And after Dash reminded her she had no problem prying it off of her dress.
All you have done is take minor scenes and use them to assert the very position you have presupposed.
Let’s recap. Your proof is: a scene done for comedy that is in no way referenced and is somewhat contradicted by what else happens in the episode, small singular instances of minor-at-best-wrongdoing, a scene that does not suggest what you are trying to assert with it when considering the totality of the evidence, and an episode where she was wrong but felt bad and showed contrition.
Even if I were to agree with these things… they are so minor that they are not worth recalling.
In fact, a better explanation would be inconsistent writing since they contradict her overall character.
Which is what I find funny about this, not only have you twisted small events to suit your opinion but you blame Rarity rather than the writer who wrote them.
Your contention is that these, by you analysis, do not follow what her character is supposed to be yet you do not pin the blame on the writer who by your estimation would be writing her OOC.
Which I contend is a sign of dishonesty and bias on your part.
But in all honesty send me a comment. Click on messages and figure it out from there.
The reason I think you wont is because you prefer to remain anonymous when making these claims of yours.
Or you are incapable of figuring out how to do so when it is quite obvious.
Prove me wrong on this.
one last thing the reason i cited the difference between the two crying scenes is because it shows how little she cares for others…it’s always about her.
also you proved my point about her being greedy; of all the gem she could have given spike she gave him one from her dress and only after she was told to; something thats constatant with her. Someone has to tell her to be generious it doesn’t naturally for her everything is always about her. like in sisterhooves social Rarity mocks applejack and her family even to her face yet applejack still help her reunite with her sister.
@Background Pony
you guys arguing over a cartoon horse is priceless lol
the visual gag thing would have been funny if it wasn’t a constanty thing in the ep or sweetie didn’t look completly exhausted. if Rarity had actually pulled the cart even once I wouldn’t say a thing (her being “generosity” and all.) but she didn’t. Also of course sweetie didn’t mind pulling the cart; she a child; it doesn’t make it any less wrong. (she also said in the spike at her service ep that she would love for someone to do everything for her aka a slave. So to me her treatment of spike, sweetie and to a lesser extent scootaloo was that of a slave.) In general she uses others mainly spike to do everything for her; like in the part in party of one she has spike take out the trash then shoos him away after he’s done because he’s dirty.
She has no concern for other but expects everyone to respect her. she openly mocks applejack and her family in several ep and in these cases applejack was the bigger person (pony whatever) and still tries to help rarity.
who were not trying to accomplish*
Well first of all, her behavior in Sleepless was purely for a visual gag. Sweetie was okay with it, it had no bearing on the plot and in other scenes she was very affectionate with Sweetie Belle (consoling her after the scary stories etc)
So your slave argument is inane.
There was no cajoling Spike out of his gem, in Just for Sidekicks she had no problem giving away a gem after Dash reminded her and the gem she gave was the most valuable.
If she wanted to short him she would have given him one of the smaller gems on her outfit rather than the centerpiece gem.
So that argument falls apart.
I also fail to see how getting mad at her sister in Sisterhooves is self centered when it was predicated by anger and frustration.
It was unfair of her, sure, but she also went out of her way to show contrition to her sister. Which is the opposite of being self centered.
And citing her crying in PYHD is an erroneous comparison since Sweetie has never been in danger or insulted like that.
And those episodes were written by different writers who were trying to accomplish the same things
But above all, your position is inconsistent since Sweetie Belle has actually stolen from Rarity and Rarity has forgiven her.
Yet you give her no credit for that, nor do you impune Sweetie for it.
Instead you focus on a comedic scene, a scene you seem to have willingly misunderstood and an episode where she actually did get angry when she usually does not.
Essentially, you have taken the exceptions and made them the rule.
I don’t know to do that (sorry)
my reason for saying that is her attatuide toward her sister and her sister’s friends. In sleepless in ponyville Raritys them likes slaves; outside of herself she never notices scootaloo’s pain and even forces her to pull it as well. I also call her generosity into question.in the one ep she fawns over spike’s fire ruby to the point that he gives it too her; but in just for sidekicks she has a hard time giving away a single gem (in the end giving him the smallest gem of the six.) shes also very self-centered; in the sister hooves social ep the way she cries for her sister sounds like shes putting on a play with very little emotion. but in the putting your hoof down ep she crys for real after fluttershy insults her dresses; which to me means she cares more for herself then her family which is of course the opposite of generosity.
care to defend that assertion?
Message me with it, I’d rather not screw up this thread
yes
does she?
so true lol
Yes mysterious bg pony, we know who have irrational disdain for Rarity.
her not hear lol
