They go around finding desperate and distressed ponies and making unusual deals with them. They are insanely powerful, magically speaking, and can grant anyponys wish, for the right price! But these deals usually give the ponies more than they bargained for, and they end up coming to regret them. But, sooner or later, most ponies end up learning some important life lessons from it. While Fiddler may seem malicious, these lessons are actually usually their end goal, and once the lesson has been learned, they will usually turn up again to undo their spell and return the ponys life to normal.
