“Twilight…I don’t wish to talk.” Her voice was cold, quiet, and rough. She sounded ill and sick as she fumbled in the covers of the bed. Twilight inhaled a sharp breath as she took a few more steps to the bed.
“Rarity, please. You need to get out of bed. You need to eat.” Twilight spoke, trying her best to sound kind and open- unaware of how demanding and annoyed she really sounded. Rarity clearly perceived her friend as being condescenging.
“Twilight, I am not getting out of this bed. I do not want to eat and I do not attend to. Everytime I eat it’s just made me sick since…” Rarity stopped, her voice broke midway. “Since…” She tried again, failing to complete the sentence. Rarity visibly was shaking and Twilight took a hoof to pat her friend’s arm in hopes of comforting her. Rarity looked horrible. Her mane was disheveled and tangled, looking as if it hadn’t been brushed in days. Her coat was duller than usual and eyebags pocurred out from under her eyes. Even during the birth Rarity had worn her makeup, and it seemed that she hadn’t taken it off since. Lines of black faded tears fell down from her eyes to her face, and Twilight internally cringed at how much Rarity must have not been taking care of herself. She lifted Rarity off the bed with a gentle tug on Rarity’s forehooves. The white unicorn suprisinglyly didn’t object as she stood on the carpeted ground, her figure shaking and slim.
“Rarity you have to. You need to take care of yourself. You have ponies who need you to be strong, but ones that will be here for you. Staying in here all day, sleeping, crying? It’s not healthy. Sapphire and Selena are 2 years old! They need their mother too. Luna has to take care of Lucine alone. I know it’s hard for you right now, but you have to put your children first.” That seemed to click something in Rarity. She was very much upset at Luna for obvious reasons, but Twilight dared to waltz in and tell her how to live her life? How she needed to take care of herself and her children?
“Oh you are not one to lecture me, Twilight. You spend more time looking for a cure for that alicorn child of yours than actually taking care of her. You don’t spend time with any of your children- Galcier or Magenta? They’re all children too, are they not?” Rarity spat in retalition, poking Twilight’s chest in order to provoke a reaction. Twilight’s nostrils huffed as Rarity took steps forward, casuing Twilight to step backwards. “Oh and what about Wysteria’s other two of the triplets? Comet and Meteora? They’re just babies- yet you focus solely on your alicorn child and Pinkie Pie and Tempest are the sole care providers for them. You are just as bad as I am, if not worse.” Twilight’s lack of sleep and unhealthy diet was getting to her as her anger rushed to her head and her wings flared up defensively.
“Worse? At least I take care of myself! I shower and eat in order to maintain apperances because I don’t have a choice. I don’t get to break down or cry or sleep in all day. I don’t get days off. My life is a constant to do list- and I never get a break. I don’t sleep because I spend every day looking, searching, hoping- to find a cure to give my child a normal life. Everything I am doing, I am doing for her. You get to lie in bed and cry your tears to your heart’s content. You get to be selfish and make your wife do all the parenting for you- even though she is in just as much pain as you are. For the element of genorosity- you’re certaintly acting selfish. You have a responbility to not only your children but the world! You’re an element of Harmony for buck’s sake! You can’t just lie around crying all day if the world is in jepordy!”
“The world isn’t that generous, princess.” Rarity glared, her voice firm and angry, but…quiet. Twilight was so consumed by her frustration and rage, that she did not notice Rarity’s tone, nor did she see the tears forming in her eyes as she said those words. “Get out.” Rarity practically whispered, as she turned around forcing Twilight to face the back of her tangled mane. She was alsmot baffled by the silent response as they had just been yelling not only a few moments ago.
“What?” Twilight asked, not as a question but more as a demand. Her anger had caused her to use her height to her advantage, lifting her head all the way up so she seemed more intimidating. A princess is not to be yelled or screamed at by anyone. Twilight was so caught up in keeping her appearance serious and acting as if she was above the argument that she flinched with the next screamed words that left Rarity’s mouth.
“I said, get out! You dare come in here with the excuse to “help me” and then demean me as a mother! You act as though I have no right to mourn over my dead child who I lost! You have no respect and you dare act as if you are kind and compassionate yet you did not come to check on me until my wife asked you to! You haven’t asked any of your friends how they are or how they feel! You’re too obsessed with your own intrests to fix a problem. You are the princess of friendship, but you are no friend of mine, Twilight Sparkle!” Rarity’s voice sceeched and broke throughout the entire rant, and Twilight found herself taken aback by it. She was suprised but then took a breath as she was about to defend herself. “Don’t you dare try to defend yourself, Twilight. Now get out.” A moment of silence passed the purple alicorn gazed back and fourth to areas on the floor. Rarity’s pateince snapped as she ran forward in fury. “Get out! Get out! Get out! Get out! GET OUT!” She screamed one last time until Twilight was outside her room as she slammed the door furiously.
