DTA Entry - Crystalline Claws
Entry for Qamrah DTA! I wasn’t sure if I was gonna have enough time to enter this but I’m so glad I was because I absolutely adore this bab and they would fit in perfectly with my little AU! So as I’ve pondered them over the past week this is how I think they would act/work. GET READY FOR INFO DUMP 😁

So in my verse there is a draconequus initiative that takes place a good few years after Twilight's ascension. The species was very nearly wiped out and of course Discord himself couldn't revive an entire race by himself (and honestly doesn't want to have the iron clad responsibility of being a father) so he pleads to the the princesses to help foster in a new generation and they set up ponies they trust and fell could handle raising such a powerful and magical race. 



So in order to help with this (and Discord's ability of creating eggs by chaos magic) he creates an egg with a mixture of his own magic and the magic (which all inhabitants of the world innately possess even if it's not a outward magic like unicorns) of other members of those selected for the revival initiative. Crystalline Claws would be a mash up of Discord, Chrysalis, and Celestia. They're born blind but inherited a form of Chrysalis' emotion power by being able to sense aura's. They can't see objects and their view of creatures are not very defined, but aura's are naturally distinct so they can tell creatures they know well apart, crowds can be hard to deal with though because the colors tend to mesh and blur. 

And Discord’s magic mixing with Celestia resulted in their weather tendencies. They are especially tuned to clouds almost like a pegasi, their emotions often manifest in cloud related phenomenon. Anger brings on a full on thunderstorm with sharp lightning bolts, sadness brings varying degrees of rain, dislike while often come with bouts of snow. These all have levels of intensity that depend upon Crystalline’s mood and sometimes who gets affected if the emotions are particularly strong it affects more than just themselves.

Their antenna are very sensitive and help to sense the emotions of others and draw in the effects of weather like an energy boost, too much can overload Crystalline though an short them out. In a similar vein their chest fluff often reacts to their emotions as well being soft and fluffy when happy or content, spiking when angry or afraid, and drooping when sad. It also houses little spores that can be released which can affect the emotions of those who breathe them in.

They are generally pretty stone faced and those who aren’t familiar with them get nervous but Crystalline’s family pick up on their nuances with ease. They get along well with their draconequus cousin Oberon well, even though he often gets up to mischief and jokes. The theater (plays not movies) is one of their favorite activities to see how well the actors preform their emotions or if they fall flat and fell fake to them. Their tail works similar to a chameleon and crocodile allowing the to grasp or hang onto things and while in water their tail is a powerful swimming assistant.
