Alright Lyra, here’s what you should do: buy the orange streets. There are many additional ways someone can end up on them, one of the big ones being when you get out of prison. Houses for them are rather cheap at 10.000 a pop, and they contribute more to value than purple. By the mid game, that corner of the board will be able to generate quite a bit of income, unlike green and blue streets, which cost a fortune and the latter of which are like a money sink. Red and brown streets are also sub-optimal in value-per-house. Avoid the utility companies, they’re worth peanuts, but definately get the stations so your opponent won’t charge you 20.000 anytime you land on them. Also, consider holding off on building anything until someone draws one of the house repair cards in the decks, because that one tends to hang over you like a dark cloud and might be a good reason not to splurge on houses for cities you don’t consider your moneymakers.
