Exactly, and even for the ones that do seem to be able to use magic as a proper weapon, it’s almost always shown to be very taxing. Firing a gun meanwhile, while mildly technically demanding, isn’t really energy intensive by comparison.

Horn blasts are not shown to be particularly powerful. It seems more like the equivalent of a good punch than a real weapon.

As far as I’m concerned, the average Unicorn is not shown to be able to actually inflict near the same level of a gunshot’s worth of damage with their telekinesis. Even for the ones that are, having a gun that uses rounds that take advantage of chemical potential energy is going to be significantly easier and less energy intensive unless you’re ascribing to the highest order headcanons in regards to the potential energy of magic.
