So basically, they translated it to Chinese, and then translated it back to English for the captions.

The lack of tenses is because tenses are optional or nonexistent in Chinese (I forget which one)
 
Plurals aren’t really a thing in analytical languages, either. I don’t remember Chinese having distinct plurals. That’s why “crystals” is always singular.
 
For the one/wand confusion there are a few things to blame English for here. First, the D is very subtle. Second, English has more vowels than any other language I can think of. In fact, I think it has so many vowels that only Ubykh has more phonemes total without featuring more clicks than non-clicks, and that has exactly two vowels. (In contrast, the smallest phoneme inventory is I think Hawaiian, with something like 12-15)

Typical case of not having access to scripts and rewriting this what you hear.

There are a few caption errors:  
• The words “disappeared” and “happened” near the beginning are both missing their past tense  
• Captions use “we’ll”, but the dialogue actually says “we’re”  
• “What do we do” when it’s actually “What are we going to do?”  
• Izzy says “crystals” every time she points to a crystal, but the captions instead refer to it in singular.  
• The captions mistakenly use “wand” instead of “one” and adds a “that” to the dialogue.
