I think there are a few Star Wars references in G4 movie
There were also references to Terminator, Harry Potter, Jaws, and Dirty Dancing. Not exactly things that kids would recognize (aside from Harry Potter, of course).
Then again, FiM made references to the likes of ‘I Love Lucy’ and Blade Runner, so I guess this movie continues the trend of MLP having numerous references to classic shows.
Don’t personally remember, it’s been a long time since I’ve watched the show due to lacking any legal methods of watching it.
I’m pretty sure there were a couple Star Wars references in G4, weren’t there? like the ending of the S2 premiere being a shoutout to the ending of A New Hope - though I don’t think they were as blatant as this IIRC
