“A punishment or fate that one deserves”. Discord got off for everything except his initial petrification. Starlight should’ve at least done prison time for her acts.

How is that appropriate comeuppance? All Discord’s comeuppance outside his thousand year petrification was inconsequential(hell, even after his imprisonment the first thing he tried to do was take over Equestria - he’s a timeless immortal god, 1000 years means nothing).

His first act after the mane 6 released him from his prison was attempt to manipulate Fluttershy, the one pony who was the most willing to give him a chance to not using her element.

The SECOND Tirek offered him power, Discord swapped sides. Did he see the error of his own ways and try to beat Tirek? No. He only saw the error when Tirek betrayed him. If Tirek didn’t betray Discord he would never have changed sides and Equestria would be screwed.

Starlight banishing him did not to deter him one bit, he just came back as a non-corporeal entity to harass the students.

Discord comeuppance for freeing 2 villains from Tartarus, 1 villain from the nether and uniting them with an idle Chrysalis. Teleporting Sombra past ALL the crystal ponies’ defenses? (Sombra basically could’ve killed the mane 6 when he trapped them in his magic cancelling crystal prison, just summon spikes and skewer them, but plot protection -> So Sombra just leaves and they dig themselves out) NOPE. Hooking up three villains with a super powered weapon? NOPE. Having the Tree of Harmony (one of his few weaknesses destroyed?) NOPE! Nearly dooming the entirety of Equestria? NOPE. HE GETS TO DECIDE THE FATE!

He should’ve lost his chaotic powers indefinitely(not temporarily) or the finale should’ve gone like this:

Discord: How about a millennia long petrification?…
Celestia retorts: “No, Discord. You tried to reform these… * FOUR * * REVIVES SOMBRA * villains… AND YOU WILL SEE IT THROUGH! You will take these four to your chaos realm and do so. And should they still run amok in Ponyville after you will be responsible for their actions!”  
Discord: “B-but! BUT!!!”  
Celestia: “No buts! Reap what you sow!”  
Discord: “Fine…” * snaps a defiant group of villains away *  
AFTER THE CREDITS  

Discord’s always forgiven and never punished for his antics, betrayal or nearly dooming Equestria TWICE (outside what the villains do to him, but never the good guys outside of him getting disapproving glares and getting chewed up which he probably doesn’t even care about). Discord never learned from his mistakes or did anything to change how he was. He’s still a rude, plotting, opportunist who will likely take over Equestria if ever given the chance.

Starlight subjected a village to totalitarian tyranny, kidnapped the mane 6 and stripped them of their elements. She got a second chance and took that chance and screwed with time and space and nearly doomed Equestria… and then got a third chance. All her “comeuppance” is just other ponies scolding her.

Here’s Cozy Glow she’s got some weird twisted morality we never learn about why she’s like that, but it’s likely her parents abused her or something way worse than Starlight not having her friend play with her anymore. LET’S IMPRISON A FILLY IN TARTARUS instead of some sort of rehabilitation center. That oughta fix her! Oh Discord released her and coached them into beating the mane 6? BETTER PETRIFY HER!

At least Starlight changed and tried to be better, but neither Discord or Starlight them received actual comeuppance.

Chrysalis lost her entire army/hive/family who all mutinied and her base of operation, was imprisoned and then petrified. Tirek was banished/lost all his power, imprisoned and then petrified. THAT’S COMEUPPANCE.

I like this, because people always act like they never face consequences, but they really do…

By the way, you missed Starlight getting the consequence of having discord fly around as a ghost thing in the episode where he gets the consequence of being laser blasted.

I think Starlight is more responsible than Discord.
