I mean, Chrysalis in more or less no uncertain terms did want to torture her indefinitely, to in her mind pay her back for which nothing can compare to her suffering, being humiliated, so it’s more or less in character for her to be spiteful beyond reason, considering how she banished Twilight who was groveling at her hooves in remorse to the caves out of sheer spite, when she more or less won by that point, could’ve manipulated Twilight at that point into not attending the wedding, waiting a little to get revenge in a way that won’t bite her, and that was with someone who in effect, the worst thing they made her do was resort to crocodile tears and panic her with how close she was to being caught.

Killing Starlight there and then especially would be too easy for her. It’s not like she didn’t block her magic at least.
