There’s a certain intentionality to that. Jump Cannon’s monsterouness is to a large extent the fault of the system, she could have been Atom in another life and Atom could have been her. But she has entrenched herself in this, from the Thin Blue Line flag she flies, the way she sees Atom as the one to blame for all that has befallen her, and as you’ll see soon, who she counts as her friends. Each of them had choices put before them and other choices taken away and it has brought them here. Val Jean and Javert (Cap does tend to reference Les Mis a lot, as you may have noticed.

The parallel really makes Jump feel seem so much more alone in comparison. I mean I’m happy for the other two but right now my brain just screams “Quick someone hug this one too!”
