If people remember the Hearthswarming Eve lore, the three tribes coexisted before any alicorns existed. But it was because of codependency and there was no central ruler. Earth ponies made food for everyone, pegasi controlled the weather for everyone and unicorns controlled the time of day of everyone. If the three tribes had no need to do any of this, would they still coexist?

Don’t forget, the three tribes NEVER became friends because they liked each other. They became friends because of the threat from wendigos. Not a very good motivation for friendship. If there was no threat, would the three tribe been friends at all?

what i wana see is the other pony towns cause you cant honestly tell me that these 3 cities are all that remains, i mentioned this before to someone but maretime bay has a port so they must have ships that go out and trade with someone, probly thats where the whole ‘earth ponies smell like fish’ came from the earth ponies now all live along the coast and boat is the main way they get from one city to another, for unicorns its hard telling where there cities other then bridlewood are, and as for pegasi them i can actualy see zephyre heights being the only city, after they lost there magic it was the closest place to the sky and with all the high rises it could have a very high population in a small area.

it also wouldnt surprise me if just south of zepyhr hights, near the border of a certain forrest there sits one lonely earth pony farm…anda familar family, still plying the land they have for generations, refuseing to let go, magic or no.

Equestria was not the Roman Empire, it was more like The Holy Roman Empire, at least in structure. In reality it was not an empire it was a loose confederation of kingdoms that swore fealty to the King. And they rarely did what he said. Same thing with Equestria, it was a loose confederation. Once magic left and once alicorns no longer existed, there was no reason for ponies to remain united and became separate nations, without magic they advanced in technology and architecture, the Earth Ponies and Pegasi benefited from this, the Unicorns, did not.

Alicorns as far as I’m concerned, are extinct..at least until Sunny came along.

And I seriously doubt that they just flat out don’t exist anymore. Until they say one way or the other in the canon of G5, anything is plausible 🤷

People say that just because the Alicorns doesn’t haven seen in G5 it doesn’t mean they doesn’t exist, but I disagree with that. After all, Alicorns were supposed to rule over Equestria and keep everything in order. Even in the first ever episode of the Season 1 from the G4, the Alicorns were presented and, the idea was clear: They were the rulers of Equestria and almost divine figures in the MLP universe. Meanwhile, in the G5, they aren’t even mentioned, making exception of the little story in the start about Twilight, her friends and her legacy. After the sequence, the alicorns doesn’t exist, alive at least. Even Pipp, Zipp and her mother, who supposedly were from the royalty, none of them are alicorns in the first place but pegasus instead. People could say they were only rulers of the pegasus’ territory, and minor autorities, like the Mayor Mare, but the question prevails: Where are the alicorns?

This theory in my opinion makes sence. But, we now have to wait the official series, because we don’t know how many time has pasen in Equestria. Since the G5 is a direct sequel of the G4, we must wait to know the timeline between the generations, and probably we’ll know what happened between that timelapse to left all the ponies separated and, to see if this theory is canon. After all, for now that’s what it is, a theory.

I must be the only one with a very radical theory. A thousand years ago, relations between the three tribes broke and they started using their magic to wage war against each other. In order to protect her ponies, Twilight sealed their magic away so the three tribes cannot use it hurt each other anymore. She locked it behind three crystals, one to represent each tribe. The magic can only be unsealed once “certain conditions” are met in the presence of the three crystals. First condition: the crystals are unlocked in the presence of six ponies from different tribes. Second condition: one of the six ponies is required to receive magic from each of the three tribes. Third condition: the remaining 5 ponies must have a connection to the chosen recipient of magic from the three tribes. With these conditions, Twilight ensures she recreates another Council of Friendship consisting of different tribe ponies that mirrored her own friends during her time because these conditions can only exist if Equestria’s three tribes are once again at peace.

Just because they didn’t show up in the movie, doesn’t mean that Alicorns don’t exist in G5. With both wings and horns, they wouldn’t have fit in with the societies that any of the races had built, so they could’ve just simply built their own little community themselves somewhere secluded from the other races to avoid the mistreatment that those races showed towards one another

sawtooth had two theories about this, one that twilight sacrificed herself to make the gems, and another as to why…that magic in equestira was fadeing and they needed some way to preserve it…she sacrificed her alicornhood to make the stones, but even with them the magic continued to fade till there just wasnt enough tos upport beings of such great magic as alicorns, so with there magic depeleted celestia, luna, cadance, and flurry heart all sucumbed to the ravages of time and passed away, and with the magic of the world so low, no new alicorns have appeared since

perhaps during the event sof the series sunny and the others may find a way to fully restore magic back to its levels at the hight of equestrias golden age of freindship,

oh and as an extension of this theory i think the three crystals were carved and shaped from another….the crystal heart!
it already had the properties twilight needed, slowly absorbing ambient power and able to release it on command, it even generates the same kind of effect when fully activated!
she just had to pour the power of the three tribes into it and alter its function a bit

Pretty much, but his theory basically hit the nail on the head. Not everything he says is correct, but again they are just theories, and this one just seems to be the most plausible.
