The creator of these comics did it like that,because someone wanted her to do it like that… She also taught it would be a bit weird for Discord to be swallowing ponies.

Personally, I can see the appeal in various potential methods and ends. When it comes to ponies, I especially like the idea of absorption and storage. The predator gains their cutie mark and talents in addition to their own until they reform and release their meal. Maybe limit them to one or two ponies at a time so they’d have a reason to let them ago, aside from enjoying the feeling of swallowing them again and again. <3

For me the point is to leave them physically alive, distending the predator’s belly so he/she can show off his/her catch.
Dying and being fused with their predator is not the same for me, even if it’s much more realistic than a permanent non-digestion vore.
What if Discord’s belly is like hell? Souls are trapped there forever in eternal damnation and endless torture.
How about getting digested and then their souls being imprisoned permanently in his belly?
It’s a mix between I don’t like death and that I prefer the idea of the Mane 6 living a permanent imprisonement in someone’s belly, even if that someone is Discord.
Why exactly?
