Description

Duskdweller said:
With time being a factor, maybe we should take the risk of splitting the party. Have Apple Basket take the glass bottle, glass jar and some extra bits; […] he should be able to get the Sun’s Tear with a bribe for the queen. Meanwhile, we’ll armor up and accompany Moonflower; she seems to know what the yarrow is and can bat-scream any diamond dogs, while we’re ready to see what bucking a roc in the face is like.
In order to save time, you suggest splitting up the party, and ask Apple Basket if he would be willing to get the sun’s tear on his own.
Apple Basket: “I think I can do that! If they’re anythin’ like the honey bees we use to pollinate our orchards, then this should be a walk in the park. And besides, I was lookin’ forward to tryin’ this compass I got from Crystal Charm.”
You nod, and reason that the Everfree Region’s grassy plains should prove a nice, safe option for your younger companion. You offer him some of your supplies, a few bits with which to buy a gift for the queen bee (as well as lunch for himself), and your saddlebags to carry it all in.
You give Trailblazer’s Magic Saddlebags, Glass Bottle, Glass Jar, and 10 Gold Bits to Apple Basket.
Moonflower pitches in with her choker of aquatic respiration, just in case.
Apple Basket: “Thanks, girls! You two always come prepared.”
Moonflower: “Heehee!”
Zecora: “While you are out gathering what I need, I will get started on the brew, as we agreed.”
You thank Zecora for her help, and leave the garden. Once you reach the northern edge of the forest, Apple Basket heads north to Ponyville, while you and Moonflower begin making your way eastward.
You arrive at Rambling Rock Ridge as the sun nears midday. A cool northern wind whistles over sharp stone peaks, slanted cliffs splitting the land like massive shards of shattered stone plates jutting out of the ground.
From the edge of the barren land, you find that the only vegetation in sight is the occasional lone tree. Unable to glimpse anything resembling a flower, you turn to the bat pony, and ask her about what you’re looking for.
Moonflower: “Wild blue yarrow’s pretty rare! S’like a small shrub o’ white flowers. I think it only grows on top of mountain peaks like these, so it kinda looks like a bit o’ snow from afar.
I found some once, an’ brought it back home to try an’ grow more, but it didn’t work out. Maybe it needs to be high up or somethin’.”
That said, no amount of squinting yields any results from your current location.
  • To the north is a valley in which trees grow more frequently, leading to distant woodlands.
  • To the east, a maze of jagged ridges, each steeper than the next, cuts into the horizon.
  • To the south, desolate dirt flats run along cliffs overlooking the Everfree Forest.
