The ponies probably don’t call it Christmas. That may be just to help little kids understand better since this book looks like an adaptation from the Winter Wishday special but for babies. They must call it Wishday or rather Winter Wishday.

More proof that it is still the same universe:
– Sunny knows the Mane Six existed. You can see it in the movie.
– Pegasi need magic to fly like in G4.
– The unicorn use the same magic seen in G4. Their horn even glows the same way.
– There is an old station with literally the names of the cities from G4.
– There is a Wonderbolt poster.
But it doesn’t matter, people will still say that it is a new universe.

On the next page (>>2913857) the song lyrics haven’t been changed back to be about Christmas and are still about Winter Wishday, so it seems to me that this song would have been adapted from the episode without any lyrical changes. I don’t think they would bother inventing a new holiday for the show just to end up calling it “Christmas”, but who knows?

I mean, like, G4 had a whole Christmas album, so the mention of Christmas in official content isn’t without precedent. I’m guessing the actual episode won’t mention Christmas and that here it’s mainly to make it more obvious what the book’s about (or to sell more books somehow), but that could be completely wrong.

I can’t get over that they celebrate Christmas and not Heart Warming Eve. Like, what happened bettwen Gen. 4 and Gen. 5? Do they celebrate the birth of Twilight or something?
