I think there´s a difference between flying and hovering which Twi seems to try here. Maybe its simply to just flap and fly foward, etc. but keeping your balance and flap just the right amount of wingpower to not go forward, backwards, sidewards or upwards or downwards to stay in one place seems pretty niffy.

I love how people act like this is the most inconsistent cartoon on the face of the planet.  
Am I the only one who remembers Spongebob? I mean, even the good seasons? Most inconsistencies I’ve ever seen and I never heard anyone complain.  
The inconsistencies MLP ever has are usually pretty small things, too.

I would say so as well, but with the art assets easily at the disposal of the DHX crew, I think they could whip up something like this in a relatively short time. Going to be extremely skeptical at this point, but i’m also saying it isn’t out of the realm of possibility this is from S4.
 
Only thing that will probably irk me is some kind of ret-con where they say “O, it’s like a new pegasus foal being born where they have bursts of instinct flying, but have to master it. That’s why Twilight was seen flying at the end.”
 
Still not liking pretty, pretty Princess Twilight, but whatever. It happened, it’s done, gotta see where the writers are taking things.

So the theory of a episode around her learning to fly isn’t dead yet?

Animation takes a long time. It wouldn’t be that far fetched to think they have something done to show us, but truthfully we’re not gonna know for sure until SDCC.

I don’t know, while this scene is not hard to make, it looks very show-accurate. Of all the animators in this fandom, only JanAnimation can do that, so I doubt hottopic made this.

I imagine it IS animation for the actual show, but it’s unfinished. You could tell because it OBVIOUSLY still didn’t have the proper sounds attached to it. (The cliched BOING noise, which is obviously out of place.)
 
It seems like they gave them a few animations for this ad, but that looks like a direct scene from the show. It looks MUCH smoother than the Twilight in the ad.

I don’t know. Why have the animation in the Crystal Empire and not Ponyville? For that matter, why include any of the other ponies besides Rainbow Dash? I’m going to be cautiously optimistic and assume this is part of season 4 until further notice.

I’m gonna agree with you on that one. Way, WAY too early to be showing spoilers since we have only a little under a year to go until new episodes.

This looks a bit too good to be fake.

There’s a LOT of new shots of winged Twilight that look more than “pasted” on wings, though Im sure behind the scenes at Flash its not that hard.

I would say it’s just an animation for hot topic but I can’t really be sure.
