Is supporting a company through your work that you have realized IS doing evil stuff, even if you personally haven’t been assigned a role that is doing the evil stuff directly, something where refusing to continue work is being a butthead?
Because, all the stuff she said a few panels ago - that’s not her imagination. That’s stuff that Clearlab is actively doing at this time, and as we’ve seen earlier in the comic, it’s only gotten worse since then. Candy’s just getting off the boat before she may become forced to be a direct participant.
Before her illness, she was just too distracted by being miserable to realize all the awful things her branch of the company had been up to - to say nothing of the other branches that she doesn’t fully know about yet under the broader Cleartech umbrella. I completely understand her logic here, honestly.

@Stormwing Breeze
She’s only forced to work in general (like everyone in life). Wasn’t forced do anything bad or immoral - outside of her imagination. Or even forced to work at this specific job. And she proves she isn’t forced to work at this job if she was completely fine blowing the job up before it even did anything she imagined.
Despite her claim of how stuck she was she was clearly not stuck. And she totally jumped the gun anyway by attacking the job when it hadn’t even done anything wrong yet.
Don’t get me wrong. I like Candy. Just the logic here doesn’t make sense. She was the butthead here.

I don’t doubt there are real world equivalents to the worst cases of jerk employers at all. But in Candy’s case a destructive decision was made based on a 100% imagined future. It’s not like she was forced to work there specifically. If she planned to destroy the place she could have just as easily left it without poisoning the well for what is currently an innocent entity.
I would have had no qualms about it if the company has a consistent history of screwing their workers over though.

Lunar Supporter - Helped forge New Lunar Republic's freedom in the face of the Solar Empire's oppressive tyrannical regime (April Fools 2023).

@Aasha
It may be a little presumptive of her, though the driving idea behind it is that has realized just how precarious her position has become there. Clearlab is now in a position of complete financial control over her, and she cannot live with that. And her fears in the previous panels actually line up with the lived experience of friends of mine who worked in tech.

Honestly feels like Candy’s the one that decided to be at odds here. Essentially sabotaging her work for how she imagines they might treat her later.

And that’s why you threat your employees with respect and pay them well. Especially the ones with access to critical date.
Also, Candy, sweetie, I’m not sure you know what the purpose of a mask is. It’s to hide your face not covering your muzzle but nothing else so that everyone who’s going look at the security footage will immediately recognize you as the pink Unicorn mare with the blue eyes working at the company. Better hope they don’t have cameras in that office.
