I would have prefered if Soarin actually addressed his own flaws directly, yes.
And Zephyr is trying to improve, yes. I am not yet convinced the comic will make anything of it, other than pull the rug out from under him. Hay, if you look at the picture before this one, most viewers seem to think Zephyr is being a shallow, selfish jerk right now. That might be where the comic goes too.
@Starswirl
You don’t see Soarin’ directly answering what you keep asking for. He grew up, he matured.
“I grew. I know when to be responsible… Are you responsible for being a sleaze ball to mares?”
The difference is Zephyr didn’t but is finally now doing so. If you choose not to see this, I can’t help much more. At least we both see he is trying to improve now since then. He has had a few wake up calls.

That first picture has Soarin berating Zephyr for being a sleazeball (and a moocher, and a loser). Nothing about how HE used to be one. It was all pushed on Zehpyr. As is the usual MO for this comic, precisely what I said. As for how he’s supposedly getting better… that’s leading up to this current picture. And me wondering if this is just going to be a fakeout.

His group cut him off for perving on Starlight. They were all perving on mares, but Spike got upset when it was Starlight. That was somehow wrong and bad and he needed to be punished, so they decided they would tell him the wrong address from now on. Instead of talking to him like normal people. The comic treated this as right and proper and moral. The double-standard was never addressed either.
It was totally addressed.
The entire arc of Zephyr being with the adult film people made him come to the realization how sleazy it was doing that in the past. Then of course the most obvious answer was this entire scene between him and Soarin’. https://www.derpibooru.org/images/2315780?q=artist3Aadorkabletwilightandfriends2C+zephyr+breeze2C+soarin27
Thinking this wasn’t addressed simply isn’t true.
And while not fully related, this one shows Zephyr ready to start a “new” him. He is taking responsibility, something he didn’t do in the past. So to say he is always shown in a bad light or the fault of everything isn’t accurate in the slightest.

Can’t help but feel bad for the guy. He’s gone through a bit and he actually is trying to be a productive member of society. But running head on into the corporate machine and learning the hard way seems like a fast track route to bringing the old scummy Zephyr back.
@Starswirl
I certainly haven’t seen what you are talking about. I haven’t seen him being at fault for everything at all. Nor with Pinkie Pie. Seems like surprising statement for someone as wise as Starswirl to say.

Nope.
I think it was at Lily, who Spike was dating at the time.

Or that, aye.
Or pinkie pie’s fault.
