Yeah I should have said would they be into older music that isn’t pop music. If I went by their canon characterizations in G5, they wouldn’t be into anything good. Pipp Petals would just be into whatever is mainstream, same for the rest of the mane 5, Sprout would be into punk rock and alternative (since Angry Mob uses the same guitar riff as Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana and Self-Esteem by The Offspring), and Misty wouldn’t even listen to music unless she heard it from the mane 5.

In my headcanon, they’d all be listening to a variety of different music, old and new (except Pipp Petals who would still just be listening to current pop music). Sunny would listen to prog rock and AOR, Izzy would listen to dance and new wave, Zipp would listen to hard rock and heavy metal, and Hitch would listen to classic rock and country music. But this is just my headcanon.

It depends on what you mean by “good music” cause music is subjective. What one person thinks is good, another will find it bad and vice versa, there’s no factual criteria on what constitutes “actual good music”. This means that not everyone will like the same thing as you or I do (It’s not just for music, but for everything else when it comes to likes/dislikes), cause if we all did, then there wouldn’t be variety and that would suck. That and “good music” in general is a very broad term that can mean anything from metal to classic rock to old school rap to indie/avant garde stuff to name a few,

As for your question, I’m just going by their canon characterizations in G5 cause they would really be into modern music due to how young and social media savvy they are, especially Pipp who would eat all what social media would be popular up like souffle. If I had it my way, I would headcanon them as having more of a variety of tastes from different eras instead of just current popular music.

Alright, time to bust out my music critic side Cracks knuckles

Sunny: I can kinda see her being into K-pop, but I think Pipp and definitely Izzy would be into it. Supalonely by Benee sucks and Permission To Dance to me is BTS’ weakest song.

Izzy: Pretty accurate though I don’t know if she would be into Imagine Dragons. I know she will definitely like hyperpop to match her excitable and bubbly personality. Good Time is a banger of a song, she has great taste there.

Pipp: Some songs fit while others don’t. The most unwitting is abcdefu, she would NOT be into that song at all, not even the nicer version on that playlist. Plus, that song is godawful in general. Don’t know about My Life Would Suck Without You, that one is a bit too rock-ish for her taste, I can see Zipp liking it more.

Zipp: Wow, a lot of these songs would not work with her at all. Rain On Me, Supalonely, Lips Are Movin’, Roar, Running Up That Hill (I think Pipp would like that song more), Born This Way and Brave would not fit with her taste. A more accurate playlist for her would be pop punk/punk trap artists like Avril Lavigne, Yungblud, MGK, Mod Sun or even trap artists like Juice WRLD, Lil Durk, Gunna, Lil Baby and such.

Hitch: Pretty good for the most part. I Ain’t Worried is a good song, I know Hitch will DEFINITELY like Sunroof, that song sounds like one he’ll really enjoy, plus it’s a great song, not sure about There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back, Green Green Grass I can kinda see and Be Kind should be in Pipp’s playlist, she’ll like that one more.

I was thinking punk or hard rock, but metal works too.

All of these playlists are awful but expected. They always include shit like Taylor Swift and Imagine Dragons yet leave out good stuff just because it isn’t mainstream or it’s too dark for kids, and it’s always the same pop bands instead of different genres for each pony (Zipp’s needs more metal).
