When people see funny reddit man do funny reddit things and think he’s smart and not that the Delaware Court forced him to follow through on something he may not have even been serious on and he had to put up billions of his vaporous worth up to do it.
Nevermind the banks granted him the impossible leniency of making the scale of loan he had to make to turn billions of rapidly falling stonks into the capital to make the purchase without a clearly defined finance plan to back it up. He’s very clearly winging it to make good on the 44 billion-plus financing arrangement at least. No one would have gotten this freedom for a business loan.

Elon Musk monetized the blue checkmark status on Twitter for 8 dollars, which lead to randoms impersonating high profile accounts like Nintendo, George Bush, and even Elon himself saying questionable things
But perhaps the greatest moment was when Eli Lily, one of the biggest corporate pharmaceutical companies, “announced” that Insulin was free, their stock took a massive nosedive and they lost billions of dollars in literally hours.
Obviously the checkmark system is suspended for now, but holy shit this was the biggest “F-You!” moment to the high upper class establishment I’ve ever seen since GameStop’s “Wall Street Bets” incident

Someone used the new Twitter verification system and changed their account to pretend they were the official account of a pharmaceutical company that was selling insulin.
They made a tweet saying that they would be selling insulin for free (since insulin was supposed to be free before people tried to make a monopoly on it), and that tweet caused their stock to plummet HARD, with them losing literal billions n value because everyone thought that this was the official twitter account posting it.
